I think having a backup jury in the semifinals would be cool though. Everyone give 1-12 points as usual and then put another country you liked as the jury pick.... count the votes and that one is the wildcard.

what you mean, the host picks the wildcard? if that was the case I would have sent Frahliso and Herzebania through to the final...but I don't think that would be fair on the two countries that had enough points to qualify but ultimately missed out, because as we've seen, songs that do ok in the semi often do much better in the final

in Nation Song Contest, we have top 10 qualifying from both semifinals, and we also have 'rest jury' qualifier. People in other semi CAN vote in the other semifinal, however, they send their points as a 'rest jury points' to 'rest jury collector', and when 'rest jury' voting deadline is over, 'rest jury collector' sends the points to the host, and country with most points in 'rest jury' voting, but not in top 10 of own semifinal, will qualify to the final from his own semi.

Most definitely not. In the final maybe, but certainly not in the semi. There were only 6 songs I thought were worth voting for this time, the others went to ones which I could just listen to all the way through.

I guess I could have made my post a lot more clear. Basically, my only idea was to have the exact same semifinal voting system as ESC did this year.

 

Remember how every country had a jury pick a song in addition to the points? Then they added up all the jury picks and the one with the most votes got through as the 10th qualifier. I like that idea.
