Thanks Sunday. It's so good to read something, once again, by someone who's actually listened to his music and understands him.

Reflections on his own masculinity and meaning feel heartfelt and the questioning feeling of shipping out, moving on, of anger and resignation towards a lost love, sound free of cloying sentimentality.

He's totally got Will.

DIGITAL SPY

Will Young: 'Changes'

Released on Monday, September 22 2008

By Nick Levine, Music Editor

Will Young kicked off his last album campaign with a noisy, clattering single and a video that sent up the homo-erotic elements of Top Gun (i.e. most of it). This time around, having been away from the charts for nearly two-and-a-half years, he's taking no chances, leading with a very tasteful, very adult pop song.

Actually, 'Changes' is a close-ish relation to James Morrison's 'You Give Me Something' - no surprise really, seeing as both were penned by chart-friendly songwriter Eg White. Excitement is conspicuous in its absence, but there's an intriguing hint of desolation lurking just beneath the radio gloss ("Hope my life changes, gets alright somehow") and, like Young himself, this has class and dignity to burn. 3 *** out of 5

Thanks munchkin & sunday. :D

I've had to split the album & single reviews a it wouldn't allow me to add any more blocks of text to the thead. I've pinned them both. Hope that is ok everyone.

I'll put this in here, as well as the other thread. It's from Heat. B)

Music Review

Singles

Will Young ~ Changes

Will's dramatic new video may be all about burning motorbikes, flaming chairs and Will (quite literally) smouldering in a suit that all but catches fire. But what about this single - the first from his brand new album Let It Go?

Well its Will at his best, showcasing that emotional voice over a confident, mid-paced, soulful crooner with a coolly funky beat and swish piano licks. Changes we reckon, is seriously classy

* * * * * (5 Stars)

PS - putting the 5* in bold is my doing.

And another. From this week's New mag. Thanks to Ruthie on D for this and the Heat review.

Singles of the Week

Changes **** ( four stars)

When we heard that Will's new song was called Changes, we hoped it was a cover of the Bowie classic. It's not, but it's still fab, packed with soul and great vocals

Long gone is 2002.

Will we be getting some album reviews soon from the likes of the Telegraph, Times and Mail etc?

Teletext review

..Will Young/Let It Go Reviews by Jenny Pashkova

In his fourth album of quintessential English soul, this does exactly what he promises in the title.

It is an altogether more personal effort than his previous. He's a jilted lover on Grace, he's searching for the meaning of life on Changes, and love on Simple Philosophy.

At the centre however is Will's personality and marvellous voice, and this is what lures you in. 7/10

Thanks TT, not a bad review from them, but I would definitely have given a 9 out of 10, this is Will's best album yet and I'm not just saying that because I'm a fan. If I didn't like what I've heard so far, I'd bloody well say so. :D

Neil McCormick Telegraph

"The original Pop idol has matured intoa genuine talent, crafting elegant pop-soul with a delicate, very English quality. It's a break-up album with a streak of self-help philosophy, but Young's high tone and understated jazzy singing has a lightness of touch that floats swettly over the heartbreak.

Download this: 'Tell Me The Worst'."

A very nice revue from the man who gave him such a great write-up when he reviewed Friday's Child.

I'm listening to Let It Go right now. Changes is so beautiful. One of my faves from Will Young. It got to #1 in my Personal Chart :)
