I'm still sitting on the fence though, eh? Just because Lydon has said "I'll see you in court" on a TV show it doesn't mean it didn't happen.

And if Kele had said something like "Don't worry John, I know it wasn't you who made the comment, but you need to sort out one or two of the people on your pay-roll", then I would have no problems with the bloke.... But the facts are that Kele has gone off on one and made a clear implication that John is somehow racist-by-association, which is entirely erroneous.... As if John himself goes around personally vetting EVERY BLOODY SINGLE security guy or member of entourage, NO ARTIST DOES MATE, so why the fukk should he..? This is what they PAY A BLOODY MANAGER FOR.......

But I would agree that a reformation of Public Image Ltd would perhaps have been a far more interesting proposition.... This aint the issue though, Kele making false allegations of racism against a bloke who has always been a totally committed ANTI-Racist is the issue.....

I've not seen any evidence yet that John didn't say it...unbelievable as it sounds...all this talk of it being a crew member is circumstantial. The only story that's been backed up by anyone officially is Kele's.

...and yes, the true nugget of worth in this whole debacle is that a reformation of Public Image Ltd would be a very good thing indeed...just not as lucrative, more's the pity.

If you actually believe that John really said this and he's a racist, then your name is Conor McNichols mate.... -_-

There is NO independent source out there who is saying that John HIMSELF said the offending remark, all are saying that it was a person who worked for him, people like YOU and Kele are tarring him with the brush of association even though it aint John's job to interview and vet these people, as I say THIS IS WHAT HE PAYS A FUKKIN' MANAGER FOR, more than likely this individual was a security goon hired for that one gig... Sorry to repeat this, but obviously you didn't get it the first fukkin' time.... John CANNOT be held responsible for the attitudes of people he barely even knows who just happen to work for him, he aint a mind-reader....

John's anti-racist credentials are unquestionable, anyone who implies otherwise is an idiot or a fukkin' NME journalist (mind you, that's pretty much the same thing innit?).

f*** sake...I already said I hadn't seen any evidence that anyone had said it was a crew member other than people saying "maybe it was a crew member". Show me a concrete statement is all I'm saying. I know his crew beat Kele up, but I don't know to the extent that John was involved.

I think it's pretty rich for Kele Okereke to take a beating and then get called a liar. Prove me wrong and I'll be happy, but right now it seems to be a case of "more people like John Lydon therefore he's right."

I completely agree with everything else you say.

I think it's pretty rich for Kele Okereke to take a beating and then get called a liar.

Kele has explicitly implied that John is a racist because of the actions of a few over-zealous goons on his payroll whom he has no real power over in terms of hiring in the first place, so he's spreading deliberately false and misleading accusations around, this makes him a LIAR in my book, much like the NME in their "interview" with Morrissey...

John, is quite rightly defending his reputation against these accusations.. His reputation has ALWAYS been one of being diametrically opposed to racism..... I've read his autobiography, I know about his past, I know that John is no racist, and Kele needs to shut his mouth about John and target the people who were the real problem that night....

and also how do we know if 'Your problem is your black attitude' was said and not ''Your problem is your bad attitude' instead - surely being backstage at a festival with loads of commation going on and music filtering thru - surely its gonna be a bit of noise innit?

and also how do we know if 'Your problem is your black attitude' was said and not ''Your problem is your bad attitude' instead -

That is an incredibly valid point Alex.... This so could EASILY have been misheard and misinterpreted in the heat of the moment..... This is the problem with human accounts, they can get twisted, distorted so the the "accepted" point of view falsely becomes fact when it is repeated often enough.... If someone had been tape-recording the incident however.....

After finally listen to the new single all the way thru on the tmf chart show...or maybe should i re-phrase that to enjuring the what seemed like 92 hours of the new single on the tmf chart show - maybe the problem is neither an attitude thats either bad or black - just one of an artist who's up his own arse!!!!
