Posted June 2, 200619 yr After 1967 and 1976, what do you think will be the final two years covered in bbc's best summers programmes?
June 2, 200619 yr Author well i guess it gonna be an 1980s and a 1990s one,as theyve done a 60s and 70s
June 4, 200619 yr 1980s - I'm thinking maybe 1984 - The year of the Miner's Strike, arguably the most significant single event in Britain in the 1980s, no way could you ignore that... Thatcherism in full swing with her incredibly ruinous and socially divisive domestic policies, the "Ronnie and Maggie" 'special relationship' at its peak, Privatisation of OUR public companies in full-swing.... 1984 also has a literary significance - it is the title of George Orwell's incredibly significant (and very prescient) work of literature.... He only got the gender of "Big Brother" wrong.....
June 4, 200619 yr I hope they do a recent year, like 90's so all us 'young un's' can remember it ! :P 1990 was a good year :) Edited June 4, 200619 yr by fiesta
June 5, 200619 yr Well as revealed at the end of the programme next week it's 1989 when the Berlin Wall came down (funny i thought that was 1990). I predict that the week after will be 1995, the year Britpop was at its peak.
June 6, 200619 yr Well as revealed at the end of the programme next week it's 1989 when the Berlin Wall came down (funny i thought that was 1990). It was.. But East Germany opened up it's side in November 1989, so it was kinda the beginning of the end...
