When is the final?

Well I'm going for English, as usual. No matter how good a song is, I would probably never give a foreign language song points, the closest I got to that was Kate Ryan getting down to my final 13 in the semi final last time. :lol: I don't know if that makes me extremely racist or just picky about what I listen to but foreign songs don't appeal to me. :unsure:

LOL I do like to understand what they're saying though, but I don't care if the lyrics are meaningful or not :P

I think each contest should have a theme everytime or at least where the winner of the last contest who hosts gets to pick a theme or let anything be entered. Things like that would make it more interesting as there wouldn't really be outright winners from the start with for example with b-sides as a theme.

Noooooo. Themes just wouldn't work - example, B-sides COULD have an outright winner from the start if someone picks an outstanding B-side. But outstanding B-sides are few and far between and would probably get snapped up quickly, plus many people don't know all that many B-sides. Spin-off contests I don't mind (so long as they don't overshadow the main contest), but having themes for each contest strikes me as very...enforced. I don't know quite how to put it :lol: Another example would be foreign language tracks - most people who take part in this contest don't know that many foreign language tracks, or really like them (they may prefer to understand the lyrics etc.etc.), so automatically participation would be shot down from, say, 44 to less than 20 (we also need to remember that most people aren't so determined to do well that they'll trawl through foreign versions of myspace - most people won't enter if they don't think they stand a chance, and probably won't be that determined to find something, go figure :lol:)

I think having spin off contests would be a bit of an overload...

perhaps if we had spin off contests, we could leave 6 week intervals between regular contests instead of the current 4-5 week intervals

I agree with the anti-theme argument. I don't want to be told what I can and can't send. I wouldn't mind a 'male only' contest for once, but even then it's a bit forced.

 

I do think we're in need of the "best of" contest sooner rather than later and let this have a break for a month or so. It seems like people are saying that semi final 2 is weak and I don't know how much of that is to do with the people choosing them having bad taste or people finding it hard to think of good entries.

 

Personally I think the entries in this contest are good, there are probably some of the worst entries so far this time, but there are still some very good songs in this contest in my opinion.

To be honest I hate themes, as some might struggle to find a track that suits them.

uhm it will be OPTIONAL spinoffs with bunch of difrent themes...so we can make a number of countries like 26 or sth so the first 26 countries that sign in will compete!so we not gonna have semi finals and it will last shorter...but still a lot of fun :w00t:

of course it will not have any conections with the main contest...

a lot of countries are new this time, and a lot of them have ended up in semi 2...it's not necessarily that they are sending weak tracks, just that they are not tuned in to the tastes of a typical Buzzjack member

 

as I may have mentioned elsewhere, I only liked 13 of the 20 songs in semi 1...I wouldn't say that I think it's weak though, its all a matter of taste...other people will probably love those other 7 songs that I didn't like
