Taio Cruz; Like A Star

 

Universal-Island Records; out August 18th

 

Rising UK R'n'B star Cruz returns with She's Like A Star lifted from his acclaimed debut album Departure.

 

It's a functional slab of slick and dancefloor-friendly R'n'B but fails to shine when you want it to.

 

Cruz is currently in the US working with hot American producer Jim Beanz on new music for Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake.

 

And 24-year-old Cruz, from London, has also been asked to write for Anastacia's eagerly anticipated new album and to contribute to the Sugababes' next LP.

 

Ooh, track two is the Cahill radio edit remix of the title track and it's excellent. Expect this to be seriously caned on your local commercial station.

 

Taio Cruz is lined up to perform at V this weekend, playing Stafford on the 16th and Chelmsford on the 17th.

 

Then he performs at Manchester Academy 3 on August 19th.
