For the past hour, central London has been brought to a standstill as chauffeur-driven cars have been queuing outside the Royal Opera House to drop their celebrity passengers off for the 2008 GQ Men Of The Year awards. Crowds of well-wishers and paparazzi have all been there to welcome the stellar stars to the 11th GQ awards ceremony, and so far, the fans have been blessed with appearances from Elle Macpherson, Lily Allen, Jaime Winston, Daisy Lowe, Trinny & Susannah and Thandie Newton. On the stylish men front, we’ve seen Dunhill’s Christopher Bailey, Jimmy Page and Gordon Ramsay - not to mention the magazine’s staff…

 

Log on to GQ.COM at 9pm tonight as we’ll be the first to announce 2008’s winners. Plus, from midnight you’ll be able to see our exclusive footage of the event, including red carpet and backstage interviews as well as highlights from the ceremony itself…

ITV1 has released details of some of the acts to feature in their three-week variety revival.

 

For One Night Only will include - amongst others - Rihanna, Michael Bublé, Pink, Joan Rivers, The Pussycat Dolls, Will Young and the cast of West End hit The Jersey Boys.

 

Comedy will come from the likes of Michael McIntyre and Stephen K Amos, plus new acts straight from the stage of this year’s Edinburgh festival.

 

And then there are the “special acts”: Lazaro Gitu, a contortionist from Tanzinia, Zhejiang the incredible acrobatic act from China and The English Gents who perform inconceivable feats of acrobatic skill, strength and balance all while supping a cup of tea in a bowler hat.

 

Each edition will feature two hosts - the first sees Vernon Kay teamed with Joan Rivers. Ulp!

 

Guy Freeman, Controller of ITV Music and Events says: “We are delighted to be bringing some of the biggest international and UK stars together live on one stage. This exciting new show provides a platform to showcase a unique combination of comedy, theatre and music stars for what guarantees to be fantastic family entertainment.”

 

Executive producer and director Geoff Posner says: “It’s great to be able to bring a live variety show back to Sunday nights on ITV1.”

 

Curtain up is expected Sunday 28 September on ITV1.

 

 

I hope he's on the first show LIG is out the next day :cheer:
