The Mood Foundation Valentine Ball - Chelsea Dear All, I am on the commitee for a charity valentine ball taking place at Chelsea Football Club on Saturday 14th February 2009. It is in aid of The Mood Foundation which helps people recover from depression. The ball is for 750 single people and tickets are £200 each. Davina McCall is hosting the event, with a Q&A session with Cilla Black and a live performance from the singer Will Young. The evening with take the form of a Champagne reception, followed by 3 course dinner and dancing. The theme of the evening is Sexy Burlesque and I wondered if any of you would be interested in working for free on the night, welcoming guests and assisting with the silent and live auctions. I look forward to hearing your thoughts . Many thanks Sophie Great to see Will supposting his brother's charity again. Edited November 4, 200816 yr by truly talented

November 14, 200816 yr Evening Chronicle Making it all about the music Nov 14 2008 by Gordon Barr, Will Young opens his UK tour in Newcastle on Sunday. Entertainment Editor GORDON BARR has the details HE WAS the original reality TV pop idol and now, nearly seven years on, Will Young remains one of British music’s best-loved stars. His latest album may have only peaked at No 2 – a chart position most acts never even get close too – but his tour, which starts at Newcastle City Hall on Sunday, sold out fast. The backbone to his string of dates will be the album Let It Go, which spawned the hit single Changes and the forthcoming release Grace. “I tried to focus on what I do really well,” explains Will. “Last time around I had a film and an album and a tour and it all became a bit of a monster; SUPERWILL – GO! “This time, I wanted to simplify. I concentrated on lyrics, melodies and voices; where the listener feels like they are in the room with the singer, you can really hear every last breath. “I made myself stick to that path and it’s just been the most pleasurable experience ever.” Which is not to suggest there wasn’t some turbulence. It wouldn’t be soul without a little heartbreak. “I have enough material to pull on,” Will laughs. “I’m kind of doing a relationship a record. But it’s not so bleak, there’s a bit of silver lining. “I find writing therapeutic. It’s one of the best things I have in life. You wake up, you’re feeling rubbish and you get the opportunity to put it on paper, sing it, and by the end of the day you’ve got it out of you. “It’s a way of talking to yourself. Songs are full of the kind of advice I hand out to my friends.” He will always be the Original Pop Idol, but the public has come to learn there is so much more to Will Young. A politics graduate (with a 2:2 from Exeter University), he has even written about gay rights in a national broadsheet. “I don’t specifically address sexuality in my songs, because I feel love and music are universal, but there were things I wanted to say,” he reflects. Will also won plaudits for his 2005 film debut with Bob Hoskins and Judi Dench in Mrs Henderson Presents and last year starred in a critically-acclaimed theatrical revival of Noel Coward’s The Vortex at the Royal Exchange Theatre. “Acting gave me the space to revitalise my love and enjoyment of music,” he says. By the end of the touring and promotion campaign for his third album, the triple platinum Keep It On, he admits he felt exhausted with the music business. “It is you on the line all the time and that can make you completely self-obsessed. I had five solid years of it and felt like I was doing more meetings than performances, which I probably was. With acting, I can just turn up and do it.” Although he has been co-composer on songs like Your Game, the 2005 Brit Award Winner for Best British Single, Will adds: “I really started to feel like a songwriter on this album. I write all the time now, I never really stop. “My aim is to make great pop songs that are really personal but with a strong sense of storytelling. I don’t want to be self-indulgent. “You have to have a sense of an audience, even one person in a room can make a difference. They are tales that I hope people can understand, or learn from, or relate to, or even make them question things in their life.” He was once the boy who put Simon Cowell in his place. At 28 and with four million UK albums sold, Will Young is a distinctive and authentic exponent of his own hugely popular brand of English soul. “I think it’s the best record I’ve done. I don’t take any of this for granted, but if I can continue making music like this for the rest of my life, I’ll be a happy man.” http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/whats-on-ne...72703-22257006/
November 14, 200816 yr Evening post Will Young also appears on the show this week and may have bitten off more than he can chew in an eating contest. A show insider said: "Will finds himself choking on a 12 inch thick sandwich in front of a studio audience and Lil Chris is forced to spit out his oversized sandwich in fits of laughter when he sees Will gagging on the giant sarnie. It all ends in chaos." Everybody Loves Lil Chris airs on Channel 4's T4 from 11.30am on Saturday November 15.
