Thanks BYM+M's. Rupert & his family have really been through the mill. No wonder Will never seemed quite himself while promoting his 3rd album. :(

Thanks BYM&Ms.

It must have been an awful time for Will right about when he was promoting KO. No wonder he got a bit tetchy with some of the DJs when all that was going on with his twin. I know it's easy to say that he shouldn't have let it , but when someone who to all intense and purposes is the other half of yourself, is going through hell, it would be impossible to carry on without a care in the World.
I agree Marguerite. No-one knows what's going on in another person's life and why I always give Will the benefit of the doubt when we hear bad things about him.

"I don't blame them," says Rupert. "I'd done some really, really horrible things. I'd held them in a prison for quite a while." He sympathises with the novelist Julie Myerson, who very publicly cut loose her son. He, too, climbed on the roof of the house and threatened to jump off."I remember my mother's voice," he falters, "it was an ancient scream like you just don't hear. She was so scared she was going berserk.

 That poor woman - how they all suffered.

Thanks BYM+M's. I don't think this was going on just when he was promoting KO - it was there in the years before, and never once was there a "sob story". And when I think of the evil comments made by the likes of SC, and some of the DJs and the rest of the crap spewed by some of the press, and then when I look at what must have been going on in the background to Will's life during those years, my admiration for Will (and his family) has increased even more. It must have been a horrendous time for them, and I'm so glad that Rupert has managed to make the recovery he has. I wish him and the Mood Foundation all the luck in the world.

Absolutely. It's too easy to condemn - (makes a good story )- without knowing or caring about the reasons.

Not much happening at the moment. Just read this over on O/S posted by WoofWoof(Julie). The link is a PDF file.

My son was at Exeter University just after Will left, and he's just received their latest news magazine. There's a lovely picture, write-up and interview with Will in it!

Sorry I can't show the article here, but you can view the whole magazine on the Uni website HERE Will is on pages 10&11.

In case you can't wait, I've put the text of it here...

Alumnus Will Young (Politics 2001) speaks about his life, music and charity work since he graduated from the University of Exeter.

Using his fame to do some good is important to Exeter graduate Will Young. As a student, he helped organise the Safer Sex Ball to raise money for Positive Action South West, which provides support for people living with HIV/AIDS and their carers, as well as raising awareness of the issue.

Just nine days after winning Pop Idol he offered to become a patron of the charity. In 2003, Will performed his first solo concert for the charity that raised £22,500. And in December 2008, he returned to Exeter to perform at the city's Cathedral in a special concert for Positive Action South West. ‘I think people forget about HIV/AIDS,' he says. 'It's not as high profile an issue as it once was, but it is still a huge issue.'

As well as supporting Positive Action South West, he supports Women's Aid, a charity working to end domestic violence against women and children, and Hideout, which helps vulnerable children and young people.

The 29-year-old is also currently an ambassador for the Mood Foundation, a charity set up by his brother, Rupert Young. The aim of the Foundation is to build a database of private therapists and alternative therapies used to treat depressive conditions. Working alongside GPs, the charity intends to assess what treatment is best for an individual and match him or her with the correct therapist or type of therapy, providing financial support where necessary.

'It is wonderful,’ says Will, when asked what he thinks about the University of Exeter's Mood Disorders Centre, which recently won a multi-million pound grant to invest in a new research facility. Will cares passionately about raising awareness of the debilitating impact of mental health issues on many people's lives. 'It is something that is very much misunderstood, ' he says. ‘It is really important and it affects so many people. I think that universities and places where research is carried out should definitely be looking at it’.

Despite the fame he enjoys, there is much more to Will Young than simply being a pop idol. More than six years have passed since he hit the headlines as the original winner of the Pop Idol television talent show. Will famously clashed with judge Simon Cowell during the contest when the mogul described one of his performances as ‘distinctly average'.

The would-be pop star simply replied, rather politely: 'You have projected insults throughout the show and it's been terrible to watch. You are entitled to your opinion – but I think I did very well.’ He went on to win the nation's heart and famously beat Gareth Gates to win the contest.

An awful lot has happened since then. He has firmly established himself in the music industry with a string of hits. Along the way he has picked up numerous accolades, including a 2005 Brit Award for the song ‘Your Game’. He recently returned to the charts with his fourth album, Let it Go. Will explains that singing remains a passion for him and that he loves to write and compose music. ‘I always wanted to sing,’ he says. ‘I love it and I love what I am doing at the moment. I am doing interviews, meeting interesting people and singing.’

As well as singing, Will has won plaudits for his acting abilities. In 2005, he made his film debut alongside Judi Dench and Bob Hoskins in Mrs Henderson Presents. He also starred on stage in 2007 in a critically acclaimed production of Noel Coward's The Vortex at the Royal Exchange Theatre. ‘I learnt so much about what it takes to act on stage,’ he says. 'It was a real learning experience.’

‘I had a great time,’ he says, when asked about his experience of life as a student at Exeter. 'I really enjoyed it there. I made some great friends. I have nothing but fond memories.’ Will is modest about his own learning experience as a student. 'I don't think I was a model student,’ he admits, 'although University was where I really started doing my singing'.

‘I did a debate at the Oxford Union recently and it was good to get back to studying and having to think about things academically. I miss that sometimes.’ Above all, it was at Exeter that Will pursued his desire to help others.

So what does the future hold for Will? He adds: 'It is simply about doing the right thing at the right time at the moment.’

Looks like he's in Cornwall. :) Could well be recouperating if the op has gone ahead or maybe just a holiday. Wise to go away from the busy Easter time.

Sorry for edditing your post chrysalis, meant to quote you instead.

Yep (we haven't got a 'nodding' emoticon on here  ) - this was posted yesterday on D:

On TWITTER..posted three hours ago

"served Will Young today. " the poster is from Newquay

Apparently it only costs £29 to go fom Gatwick to Newquay on Air South West who use BA's lounge. :o

Posted by IscaGill on D:

Air South West are not a subsidiary of BA but they do work alongside Freudian so might still be using their departure lounge etc. 12.45 flight gets in at 14.30..so that would seem to tie in with the earlier guy saying he was sitting with Will eating his lunch and Will looking relaxed and chilled

At least he has saved a few bob with the cheap flight...I mean he is 10% down on his income these days! I really hope he gets a good few days surfing in - forecast looks pretty good for him.

P.S. As one of the girls on D said - Twitter is quite intrusive but it's nice to read all these spotteds all the same. ;)

Looks like Will as had his tonsils out :)

Music week

Will Young has been recuperating after having his tonsils out.

Young accompanied by his brother - proved to be a hit with the staff,

who pointed out what a model patient he had been.

Thanks BYM&Ms. We'll probably get an O/S update later.

From the Sun. Thanks to Carly.

WILL YOUNG is in a race against time to get his voice back in perfect working order after having his tonsils out.

The Pop Idol champ underwent emergency surgery last week and is due back on stage in just six weeks.

I’m told: “Will got them snipped out because of recurring bouts of tonsillitis.”

The Leave Right Now singer is due to perform at the Isle of Wight Festival, which starts on June 12.

“He’s confident he’ll be back to his best by then, but is taking nothing for granted.”

Dig into that ice cream, pal.

Thanks TT. It wasn't really 'emergency' was it - he's had it planned for weeks  Sandra on D said her friend's grandaughter had her's done in the morning and was out by 3.30pm. They don't keep people in these days.

Thanks TT

I have just found this while googling :D

Celebrity and Entertainment Hire Costs- April 2009

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

As April begins and Easter draws near, many businesses have received their budgets for the coming months. As a result, there has been a number of enquiries coming through from anxious events planners looking to get that big, headlining act tied up for events just around the corner, and those later on in the year. Being the informative entertainment agency that we are, E3 Artists aim to bring you up to date information about popular artists who can help give your event real impact. Take a look at our top ten celebrity and professional acts for live events in the month of April. Every month we try and give event organisers everywhere the answer to that burning question ‘how much does it cost to hire a celebrity’. This post sets out to achieve that but it is important to bear in mind that all prices quoted are subject to change on an event by event basis. Where your event is being held, the duration you require an act or celebrity to perform for and any accommodation requirements impact on the fee. If you plan to sell tickets or televise your event you can also expect increased fees as image rights come into play. In our last post, we explained celebrity riders and how much these can cost. As each event will require a different rider and most are constructed on an event by event basis, these costs are not included in the fees quoted. You can always give one of our agents a call for up to the minute prices for celebrities and entertainers but in the meantime, check out our list below for popular celebrity and entertainment choices for the Month of April.

2. Will Young

Will is the original Pop Idol and his longevity in what can be a fickle industry for stars of his ilk is testament to his talent. An extremely popular booking last year, Will is set to continue the trend this year, culminating with an eagerly anticipated tour. :o Hire Will Young from £50,000.

Though we aim to answer the popular question ‘how much does it cost to hire a celebrity’, it is important to remember that all prices quoted can and will vary due to a number of factors. The date and location of the event, length of performance needed and travel or accommodation requirements can alter the fee, as well as whether or not you are holding a private event or selling tickets. If you plan to broadcast the performance or appearance, fees will dramatically increase due to image rights requirements. The prices for celebrities quoted also exclude any rider requirements your chosen act may have as these vary greatly on an event by event basis.

I hope this is true

That's interesting - hope it's an up-to-date comment

I bet they do

I notice they have Will and Lemar on the front page but they don't feature on the Book an Artist list. Perhaps it's because he's a vocalist who travels with his own band to any event so he doesn't figure in any of their categories. Hard to pigeonhole again

Noticed they are based in Brighton ;)
