May 24, 200916 yr Thanks to rosieD - from to-day's Observer Review. So there I was, hugging a fan wearing a mankini...' For Will Young, it's cuddling fancy dress-sporting strangers. For Lauren Laverne, it's driving home in her pants. On the eve of the festival season, Ally Carnwath and Oliver Marre talk to musicians about their most memorable open-air moments Quote: Will Young - singer At Glastonbury, you get that disease people get when they go to Florence and see so much beauty, they can't handle it. It's like that for music - the Avalon where I played is really peaceful and calm. Singing something like "Leave Right Now" with everyone singing along, that has stuck with me. Also, the guy in his mankini who jumped on stage and gave me his furry zebra cowboy hat and a hug. Bestival last year was fun. That was serious rain; my stage sank with me on it and I was dressed as an admiral so I literally went down with my ship. I'd rented this quite expensive suit because the theme was Under the Sea. I decided to throw a different item of clothing into the audience after each song. I thought the poor f*****s that had turned up deserved something so I threw away most of my outfit, leaving me just in my breeches and a shirt.
May 24, 200916 yr Author Thanks for bringing that over chrysalis. Have to laugh at his description of those who were at Bestival. Edited May 24, 200916 yr by truly talented
May 26, 200916 yr OS has also confirmed Will's honorary LIPA award WILL TO RECEIVE LIPA HONOUR Tuesday 26 May 2009 Earlier this year you may remember Will gave a talk at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts. Well now the same university has just named him as one of their LIPA “companions” – an honorary status given to people in the music and arts industry! Along with fellow “companions” - casting director Pippa Ailion, choreographer Natricia Bernard, theatre designer Richard Hudson and community theatre expert John Fox - Will will be named by Sir Paul McCartney during the organisation’s graduation ceremony held at the Philharmonic Hall in July.
May 29, 200916 yr I was on the bill at the Green Note in Camden Town. A young friend, Mara Carlisle, who works at the New Horizon Youth Centre (for homeless teenagers) where I am chair, is the most gifted of blues singers. She has recently had a contract with EMI and is now going solo on her own label. But one of her CDs is to include duets. I and the singer Will Young are to be two of her duettists. And so it was that I found myself singing with her and her brother, guitarist Bennett, and her spiritual brother Dan on accordion, at 10.45 pm last at the Green Note. Despite pre-performance nerves, the old voice came back and Somebody Dear went, well, er like a song, to a cheer you could have heard across the street. http://blogs.channel4.com/snowblog/2009/05...dral-to-camden/
May 29, 200916 yr http://blogs.channel4.com/snowblog/2009/05...dral-to-camden/ I've just googled her and she's the dreaded saw lady by the looks of it
May 29, 200916 yr Author I've just googled her and she's the dreaded saw lady by the looks of it  Here's hoping the saw didn't feature on the duet. Seems she has a fan in Will. He's always been zany! Edited May 31, 200916 yr by truly talented
May 30, 200916 yr Author Dance Rehearsals for a video. :) Wonder what this is all about. http://boyplunder.wordpress.com/2009/05/29...-meets-a-celeb/ Thanks to Jan for the find.
May 30, 200916 yr Thanks TT. And this orginally posted on D and transferred to OS by Gill. Thanks to a lovely Devotee we have confirmation that Will's appearing at The Hay Festival in Wales - tomorrow! Seems the Guardian have also advertised it See http://twitpic.com/66aty Not sure whether he is singing or not, but they have confirmed he will be there. It might have something to do with the Mara Carlyle event at 8.30pm. Will has guested on her new album apparently. Should anyone want to find out more he is the Box Office number 0870 0990 1299
May 30, 200916 yr Author Thanks chrysalis. Looks like he could be giving that precious voice it's first airing since his op. Love how Will takes time out to support other lesser known artists. Edited May 30, 200916 yr by truly talented
May 30, 200916 yr Thanks for the updates. He could be rehearsing his vocals for later. He seems to have done a few collaborations with unknowns - that's two we know of now. How typical of him to do things for others and not for himself. Looks like we may be getting a new single/video - and a tour - I do hope so - he was spotted at a video studio a few days ago and was seen with Michael G too :w00t: Edited May 30, 200916 yr by munchkin

May 31, 200916 yr Thanks TT ...so excited :yahoo: Thanks chrysalis I must have missed this  have you got any links please munchkin :D It was a Twitter Sunday - here's the post and a comment by one of our girls: Posted 17th May Quote: LeanneFlinn: @DannyClifford I met Will Young yesterday at work, very nice chap! - I notice that the girl who said she met Will at work on Friday is a casting assistant, production assistant and stylist for videos and commercials. I wonder what Will was doing at her place of work then And this was posted by Iscagill: Devoteee Detecvtive Agency at work:  Well spotted Sandra... I have now tracked it back..and have found out which company which is http://www.partizan.com/partizan/home/ Check out the music videos on on this folks...and also the link on the home page to the T MOBILE two current TV commericals...which apparently has Michael Gracey behind it So maybe that is why Will was at the company Do I smell something a foot I wonder? PS I absolutely LOVE that Dance one at the station...thinking how cool that would be to happen in real life...and now I know why! Lovely to see him at Chelsea..and a special pic for a bonus too! I always wondered if he has been going even before the celebrity invites due to his mother being in horticulture - and perhaps they went as a family. Edited May 31, 200916 yr by munchkin

June 1, 200916 yr Author Great to read the voice seems to be on fine form, not that I doubted it with how happy he's been looking lately. Just read these reports from Diane on the OS from the book festival last night at Hay on Wye. ooh just had a long chat with Diane66. She said his reception was brilliant. He was very funny telling stories about his pin legs and nobbly knees and how some woman apparently kept rubbing her breasts against them earlier!! She said he had on black shorts with a white shirt and kind of candy stripes in it. Diane said we have nothing to worry about his vocals -he sang brilliantly and one of the songs had quite a high section in it and he sang it perfectly. Bet Will is amazed at how even these very low key performances fail to escape some fans. :)
June 1, 200916 yr Mawnin peeps. I see D is down again  I was still up at 1am this morning and Bumbling came on to post her report - I've put it on the D thread and the Hay thread on O/S too - they are champing at the bit for information: Im too hyper to sleep The venue was gorgeous as was the weather!! There was this sort of green square in the middle where people were just sitting on deck chairs and under umbrellas having picnics. We sat ourselves down at the edge of the green just watching the world go by and were joined by Diane and Jane. Whilst we were having a natter I happened to glance across and saw this vision in shorts walking right towards us on the green I would have expected Will to arrive via the back of the stage or something but no he must have come in the main entrance and was cutting across the green heading straight for our bench.. Anyway just as he got close a lady stopped him to speak to him and Will, Faye, Mara and the other lady with them skirted around our bench as we all just sat there dumbstruck He wore - a black trilby, black pumps, black shorts just above the knee and a pale stripey shirt over a white vest. Scrumptious!! he is also sporting a really good tan. His voice is on fine form.. no worries there. The first song 2000 years was written by Maras brother Phillip and Will & Mara sang it beautifully. The second was the Bryan Adams cover which I thought was stunning. Will was very funny as usual in between and I actually thought that Mara was really good tonight!! I just had a real hankering to hear Will today so Im glad I made the trip.. had a wonderful time.Bet Will is amazed at how even these very low key performances fail to escape some fans Imo he doesn't advertise some things for that reason. Just letting things get found out by chance stops every event being about him. This wasn't his gig it was Mara's. Edited June 1, 200916 yr by munchkin
June 1, 200916 yr Author Thanks for bringing over Bumbling's report munchkin. I agree too that it was Will's intention that this appearance wasn't advertised. He does things like this for all the right reasons with no self promotion in mind.
June 1, 200916 yr Thanks TT and munchkin Hubby wanted to drive down to the festival yesterday...but i declined because i am just to lazy http://bestsmileys.com/lazy/1.gif
