Will at Hoping's Got Talent

Friday 19 June 2009

Will made a cameo appearance last night at the charity fundraising event:

‘Hoping’s Got Talent’ alongside Kate Moss, Patrick Kielty, Dave Gilmour, David

Walliams, Suggs, Lily Allen and Shane McGowan (to name just a few!). The star

studded evening was a huge success raising over £100,000 for Bella Freud’s

‘Hoping’ charity.

Look out for images of Will ‘Fat Man Fossie’ performing at the

event!

Thanks Sunday - I just added that to my post - now deleted it.

Oh my goodness - what does he look like! All in a good cause. Do we know what he sang?

Thanks for bringing the pics over munchkin and Sunday.

PS As the DM can't even get the date he won right, it's a wonder they even managed to mention Will. :arrr:

Just seen this - posted by Carly on Devoted: Looks like Angels - the fancy dress hire place has acquired them.

This lot is a complete costume (except for footwear), and consists of a pair of fawn wool trousers. The trousers have extra wide legs, turn-ups, pleated front and are button fly, labeled Will young, Sept 04 with a stick down label ”Bertie’. A blue collar attached spear point shirt and brown striped tie is worn under the green fairisle sleeveless slip over. Brown checked single breasted sports jacket, labeled twice, in the back of the jacket ‘Will Young’, inside breast pocket ‘Will Young August 04’. The hat is a warm beige tone with contrasting brown hat band.

Will Young plays Bertie, a stage performer and choreographer in the Windmill Theatre during the 1930's and 1940's. The film was about the running of the theatre that became the first in England to show naked women on stage, it follows the up and down relationship between the Theatre owner Mrs Henderson and the manager Vivian Van Damme, and gives insight into the lives of those people who worked in the world of entertainment during the war.

Kate Moss writhing around in front of Pink Floyd's Dave Gilmour, an obese Will Young jiggling through a dance routine, and Lily allen singing a duet with The Kills Jamie Hince. Surely, this was the most talented talent show ever held. and it could have taken the record for the most celebs crammed into one space.

The judges: Louis Walsh, Kate Moss and Jeremy Clarkson

The venue was Café de Paris and the stars were flexing their cheque books to raise around £1/2m for refugee children's charity Hoping For Palestine.

The show kicked off with Lily allen and Kate's boyfriend Jamie Hince performing a sultry duet of Dream a Little Dream Of Me. The audience bid cash to the acts they liked, and Lily and Jamie started with a bang, at tract ing a whopping £48,350. author Will Self put on an odd "surrealist display of strength" with assistants Sadie Frost and Kimberley Stewart, which didn't go down well with straight-talking judge Jeremy Clarkson. But Will gave as good as he got and the pair had a right old go at each other.

Shane McGowan and Sam Taylor- Wood raised the roof with Fairytale Of new York, in what was supposed to be the final performance.

But the audience wanted more. Our spy said: "Everyone turned to Pink Floyd guitarist Dave Gilmour, chanting: 'Dave, Dave, Dave!' When he stood up, everyone turned to Kate and started chanted her name.

"The audience got more than they bargained for when the pair took to the stage - no-one could believe what was happening. They played Summertime, and Kate really got into it. She dropped to her knees as she belted out the lyrics, and ended up writhing on her back. It was an electrifying performance."

Despite bidders going nuts and pledging £47,600, it wasn't enough to knock Lily and Jamie off the top spot.

Thames Water breaks the record for WaterAid

20 June 2009

A colleague of the great man was privileged to be a guest at the sumptious Love Water ball held by Thames Water last night. Britian's biggest water company must of course hold the biggest WaterAid fundraiser, and helped by the £1,000 a head ticket price, support from sponsors including programme manager for Thames Tideway CH2M Hill, raffles for a £20,000 diamond necklace and a Caterham car and some frenzied bidding for 12 auction lots, the event raised a whopping £636,000 for WaterAid.

Thanking everyone for their generosity, WaterAid deputy chief exec Andrew Cook confirmed it was the charity's biggest ever fundraiser, comfortably exceeding Thames' own £500,000 target.

The 1,000-strong gathering was entertained by top comic Michael McIntrye and singer Will Young at the Old Billingsgate former fish market in London's Square Mile. This building is now no more than a shell, and everything needed to transform it from a chilly riverside warehouse into a five star entertainment venue had to be shipped in. This included three 1,000 litre bowsers of Thames' finest tap water as Billinsgate no longer even has a fresh water supply. Pop diva Young had insisted on bottled water until it was explained this was a Thames Water bash, and he was seen on stage sipping appreciately from a drinking bottle of what we can only assume was indeed tap water. Young is of course an erstwhile winner of talent show Pop Idol and McIntryre could not resist a dig at Scottish Water who apparently had runner up Gareth Gates as the turn for their charity bash.

Competition among the water companies to hold the biggest and best WaterAid fundraiser may be a tad childish, but at least it's all in a good cause!

Thanks to Bumbling.
