August 13, 200816 yr Author i hope it does well when it hits the screens as it wud be great for gary as well as the actors etc I'm glad Gary isn't the only songwriter involved in this (there's a team of them - including Guy Chambers). So at least if it goes pear-shaped - Gary won't get all the blame! Norma
August 13, 200816 yr Author knowing the press tho they will single gary out it it foes go wrong I honestly think the music will come secondary to this program's success. There are some good people involved so it has the potential to be a hit. If the show is good - then the music will benefit (no matter what). If the show is cr/\p - then no matter how good the music is - it will fail. Norma
August 14, 200816 yr true it will def be about the show than the music but both should benefit from each other
September 1, 200816 yr Author A bit more about Britannia High from tonight's Manchester Evening News. Good cast among the adults on this. In addition to Mark Benton, they've now got Adam Garcia from Coyote Ugly on board as the school's dance teacher. I really wished it had have been Andy Garcia though!!! http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/new..._rule_britannia Norma

September 19, 200816 yr Gary Barlow songs in new ITV drama 17:02 | Thursday September 18, 2008 Source: MW By Robert Ashton Production outfit Somethin’ Else has been commissioned by ITV1 to deliver a digital audio strategy to support a new ITV1 drama featuring songs by Gary Barlow. Launching in Autumn 2008, Britannia High is a new Saturday night musical drama, which will feature songs by the Take That singer and star a group of performers who sing, dance and act in a fictional performing arts school. Somethin’ Else will bring the characters to life through “cross platform” experiences such as producing an online radio show, which will see the characters of Britannia High try their hands at becoming DJs. Somethin’ Else will also produce a series of 18 podcasts from these radio shows, which will be available through the website. Paul Bennun, director of strategy, says “Britannia High has been conceived as a cross-platform format since day one. Somethin’ Else is focussed on delivering content that fits the way that audiences want it today, bridging broadcast with interactivity”.
September 19, 200816 yr Author Thanks Mart!n There's quite a bit of news here and there about this today. I just wish they'd cut the c**p though and let us know when its airing. And I wish they'd stop saying Gary Barlow has written all the music for it ... he hasn't - he's part of a team including Guy Chambers, Mark Owen and others. Having said that ... I can see why the media is pushing Gary's name with this. I think its that if the music (or even the TV program itself) is any less than bloody magnificent ... they can stamp all over him again like they did the last time.
