Sorry im being dumb. Am I right in thinking Gary does the song writing in this show?

Not all. He's headed up a team of songwriters including Guy Chambers (the guy who wrote all Robbie's best stuff), Eliot Kennedy, Mark Owen, E.G.White (his name has popped up on loads of folks hits - including Will Young's - it isn't his real name though).

I've heard the first song from it and although a load of Take That fans on the TTTV site have been raving .... I think its a bit pants to be honest!

Well I think the song is targeted to the young generation. It doesn't appeal to me at all, but has the power to be catchy for the young ones, I suppose.

I am at the moment not very enthusiatic about this project. It seems to me that this Britannia High will be more soap opera than I thought. I hope I am wrong and that will be more quality as I expect now.

I secretly hope that Mark's song will be more mature... :teresa:

I think they are writing in groups so it won't be Mark on his own, or Gary on his own, or Guy on his own. Either way .... I hope the other songs that ALL the contributors have done are better than the first one I've heard.

Well, I am well aware that Mark doesn't write alone, but is a little idiot to write "I secretly hope that Mark's and all the other co-writers song will be more mature".

I care only for Mark's (and co-writers) song because I am interested in the music he does. The other songwriters I don't know, so if they do well is ok , if no is also all right for me  . If I like them is also ok and if not - well I have not to like everything on the market ( I like only like 2 % from waht I get to hear :teresa: )

To be perfectly honest ... I think all the songs are going to be sh/te! If they're aiming songs at 16 - 20 year olds then they should get on board some 'apprentice' 16 - 20 year olds. I'm not too fond of the idea of men in their 30's writing songs for what they think 'young people' will like. Its a bit patronising to say the least.

It was a bit better tonight. The songs sounded good anyway. The trouble with something like this though is it doesn't mind how good the songs are - even if Lennon & McCartney had written them - unless the script is great it will fail miserably. You can even get away with a few bad actors as long as it is a terrific script ... but in this case the poor acting is all that the dreadful script deserves.

I THINK britania high will be ahit with young kids but no one else but if thye manage to get the young kids hooked they are onto a winner,,the ratings though im sure will be watched carefully as they have spent alot of money on the show and they will want good ratings

Viewing figures for last Sunday's episode were a big improvement (over 1 million more than previous week). Due in part to Girls Aloud cameo appearance and also the episode was a bit better. It was up against tougher opposition too.

One good thing though ... the music seems to be escaping the scathing reviews that the show itself received.

YA the music isnt get a rough ride which is great,,i think the show will grow most shows like that do it takes time for it to proerly take off

I only saw one or two episodes of it (I've forgot it's been on ever since). I was really excited to watch it because of the involvement of Gary and Mark writing some of the songs for it, but the actual show... well, I wouldn't say it was bad but I read how it would be the UK's answer to High School Musical so I was expecting a bit more, er, music.

I don't mind the stories in it, or the acting, or the singing - but it needs more of the latter. I hope it does well though because at least it's a bit different to other things shown on TV.

Isn't Arlene "Strictly Come Dancing judge" Philips the brains behind this? If it all goes wrong I think it'll be all on her rather than any of the songwriters.

The show is awful and if it is aimed at youngsters between 9 - 14 (and they like it) then their taste has gone down the toilet! I wouldn't watch c**p like that when I was that age. Thankfully - whenever criticism is aimed at the show from the media - the songs don't seem to be included (in fact - some have said that its a shame the tunes are tied up with this rubbish!)

If Arlene Phillips comes in for flack on this - GOOD! I cannot abide the old hag! And she comes across as a snotty old bag too! She was never as good a choreographer as her peer at the time Flick Colby!

Even if Lennon & McCartney had written the songs for that show it would have dived! It was dreadful. It made me laugh though where it said Arlene Phillips had scoured the length and breadth of Britain to make up some of the cast and yet she ended up casting the daughter of a friend!

Nepotism! You've gotta keep it in the family I suppose!

Norma

i didnt take much notice of it but my daughter loved it,im sure its a huge disappointment though for everyone invlolved as there had beenb such big hopes for it
