August 23, 201014 yr Author Lisa Marie now lives in the UK Lisa Marie Presley and her family have arrived in England to start a new life after buying a £8million stately home. Elvis's daughter has made no secret of her disdain for LA and and has finally made good on her promise to move to the United Kingdom. The singer flew into Heathrow this week with her fourth husband Michael Lockwood, 42, and their eighteen-month-old twin girls Harper and Finley. The couple are understood to have purchased a mansion near Tunbridge Wells, Kent, which was being heavily guarded with staff patrolling on quad bikes ahead of their arrival. Her new home, set on 90 acres, boasts 11 bedrooms, an indoor pool and sauna and a cinema. It is understood constant gossip surrounding her ex-husband Michael Jackson helped form Presley's decision to flee America. She also said recently that LA had 'gotten dramatically worse in the last five or six years, even more shallow if that’s even possible.' Of her love for Britain, she explained: ‘We have found the quality of life so much more enriching and fulfilling. 'The civility, the culture, the people and its beauty have reawakened me and have smoothed out some of my bleak and jagged views about people and life.’ She added: 'I can honestly say that I am the only person who came to England for the weather. I love the cold and the rain. We have fallen in love with the UK and it is our hope to live here some day.' The Sun reports that the six-page document banned staff and their families from discussing any information relating to Michael Jackson's ex-wife and her property, including the decor and existence of pictures or momentos of Presley's family. The cleaners were asked to sign the agreement following the newspaper's earlier reports that the 42-year-old and her husband Michael Lockwood were moving to the £8 million 11-bedroom mansion near Tunbridge Wells, Kent. A friend of one of the fired cleaners said: "It was like they were being asked to sign the Official Secrets Act. It was way over the top and they felt it was a total infringement of their human rights. "Staff could not speak to their husbands, wives or even their grandchildren about what they did. Anyone would think they had gone to work for MI6, not a pop star's ex-wife." (News, Source;SanjaM/ElvisInfoNet)

September 21, 201014 yr Author I'm sorry about that Dileni :( When I posted it, there were a few clips of it on YouTube, so they must have taken them all down as I can't find them now. Hopefully, an official video will be uploaded to YouTube before long and I will keep an eye out for it. It was up again, but Sony have had it removed from YouTube again :( And now for something completely different B) Elvis Presley’s white buck shoes feature in Beatles exhibit: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y48/elvis1959/elvis-presley_shoes1.jpg That the Beatles were fans of Elvis Presley is no secret. John Lennon said, "Before Elvis, there was nothing." Elvis’ famous white buck shoes have now become a new addition to the Beatles Story exhibition. The shoes – worn in the 1957 film, Jailhouse Rock – have been lent to the Albert Dock-based collection by the estate of Presley himself. George Harrison said, "I remember at school there was all that thing about Elvis. When a record came along like ‘Heartbreak Hotel' it was so amazing. We know Elvis is great. Seeing Elvis was like seeing the Messiah arrive." Paul McCartney also told of his love for Elvis. "Every time I felt low, I just put on an Elvis record and I'd feel great, beautiful." So maybe it's not so ironic that the Beatles Story is displaying Elvis' shoes this month. It's the first time the shoes have been displayed outside of Presley's Graceland home. October 22, 201014 yr Author Sam Phillips to be inducted into Radio Hall of Fame: Of all the accolades the late Sam Phillips received during his long and illustrious career, his youngest son said the one he would likely appreciate the most is his upcoming induction into the National Radio Hall of Fame. Sam Phillips is known worldwide as the “Father of Rock 'n' Roll” for discovering and recording legendary artists including Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, B.B. King, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison and Howlin' Wolf. But his start in the music business began in his hometown of Florence as a disc jockey for WLAY. Sam Phillips died July 30, 2003, at the age of 80. “Most people don't really know about his radio career because it was overshadowed by his success in the music business,” Jerry Phillips said. Based in Chicago, the National Radio Hall of Fame and Museum was created to recognize persons living or dead who have made significant contributions to radio. (Right; Sam Phillips - and some other dude!) “I personally think this award would probably mean more to him than all the ones he's got,” Jerry Phillips said. “He's a member of almost every hall of fame having to do with music that one can be in.” Sam Phillips is a member of the Alabama Music Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Blues Hall of Fame, the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Rockabilly Hall of Fame. Sam Phillips will be inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame on Nov. 6 during a ceremony at the WTTW studios in Chicago. Sam Phillips is widely known as the founder of Memphis Recording Service and Sun Studios in Memphis and the Sun Records label. “I don't think anything would have thrilled him more or made him happier than being in the Radio Hall of Fame,” said music historian Terry Pace, who was personally acquainted with Sam Phillips. “Radio was his first and greatest love. He was a firm believer in the power of sound to transform people, to unify people, and that extended to his love of music.” Pace said part of Sam Phillips' interest in sound was that he had an aunt who was deaf. “The way she was cut off from the world of sound made him acutely aware of the power of sound,” Pace said. Jerry Phillips said his father's expertise as a recording engineer was likely augmented by his experience in radio and running live broadcasts. Sam Phillips used to mix big band performances at the Peabody Hotel in downtown Memphis that were broadcast on WREC. Jack “Cowboy” Clement, Memphis singer/songwriter/music and film producer, will present the award to Jerry Phillips and his older brother, Knox Phillips, during the ceremony. Clement was an engineer and producer at Sun Studios who worked with Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis. (News, Source;TimesDaily) Great news
October 26, 201014 yr Author Lamar Fike in hospital Friday evening, 22 Oct 2010, Lamar Fike was transferred for a two Week Rehab Stay, as he was admitted eight days earlier to Arlington Memorial Hospital by his Cardiologist for almost complete dehydration which was leading to his kidney's shutting sown, a most serious situation to say the very least. Lamar worked for Elvis for many years, and lived at Graceland. We wish him a quick recovery. Published: October 26th 2010 09:28 PM. Source: ElvisMatters - ElvisUnlimited / Published by: ElvisMatters I'm really sorry to hear this :( Get well soon, Lamar!
October 27, 201014 yr Author It seems that Lamar is feeling much better. Andrew Hearn, Editor of Essential Elvis posted this on Facebook this afternoon Several websites are reporting that Lamar Fike is seriously ill in hospital - not true! He was admitted several days ago to Arlington Memorial Hospital by his cardiologist for almost complete dehydration, which was leading to his kidney's shutting down, but he was discharged on October 22nd. I placed a call directly to Lamar himself just 10 minutes ago. That's some positive news so thanks to Andrew for letting the fans know
November 1, 201014 yr Author Good news about Lamar, but sadly not for two other very important people in the Elvis world :( Our thoughts are with both Gordon and Myrna and their families. Gordon Stoker In Hospital Ray Walker of the Jordanaires has indicated that fellow group member, Gordon Stoker is presently in a Nashville Hospital with pneumonia. This was confirmed on Elvis Radio on Friday during an interview with George Klein. Go here for EIN's Spotlight on Gordon Stoker. http://www.elvisinfonet.com/spotlight_gordon_stoker.html (News, Source:ElvisNews/SanjaM) *********************************************** Update from the TCB Band group on Facebook on the health of Myrna Smith of the Sweet Inspirations Myrna's kidney's shutting down led to her sudden failure of health. Her having a stroke on top of that only made her recovery even more difficut. That and the fact that she is 67 years old doesn't help. With the latest news that she has taken a turn for the worst usually means it's time for the family to come and say their goodbyes. This is how it works in the medical world of one who is on their death bed. I just hope Lisa and Priscilla take advantage of the precious time to say goodbye. If they haven't already. I also hope her and Martin, her son, are at peace after their differences several years ago. It could be any day now that we get the sad news that Myrna has left us to be with god....and Elvis. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y48/elvis1959/Myrna.jpg

Ernst provides some interesting answers as well as his own view on Elvis' musical legacy. "Elvis lives in the minds of those musicians who took over from him. You get people like The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, and U2 --everybody somehow relates to those early Elvis recordings, and they meant something in their personal lives, and subsequently, he became an inspiration for their professional lives." EIN contributor Arjan Deelen explains… A few days ago the ’Complete Masters’ came out, and the various message boards have been buzzing with activity ever since. It’s clear that this is the most exciting Elvis release in quite a while. Some fans have been generous in their praise, while others have expressed disappointment with certain elements, i.e. Lene Reidel being used for mastering discs 28 – 30, as well as a few errors, like wrongly captioned photos in the book. On a project of this magnitude, some errors are inevitable. However, there’s a rather unfortunate one on page 208, where Memphis sessions piano player Bobby Wood’s name is misspelled as "BOOBY WOOD" - Guess the text was written by someone with a one-track mind! When asked about it Bobby Wood himself laughed about the error, and said: "Oh well, what else is new (laughs)... That’s funny because sometimes I sign my e-mail Booby Woo!". Bobby will be touring Europe in May ’11 as part of ‘The Original Elvis Tribute 2011’. (News, Source;ArjanDeelen)
