there definately seems to be a grudge against the show, it could be that jealousy is being vented due to the fact Chicago has run so long and done so well - and uses celebrites in its casting, that seems to get some of the purists hackles up, whatever it is it isnt just aimed at Darius, there is a real feel of axes to grind, even in discussion there are the same undertones..constantly declaring the show isnt selling and should close, even when the opposite glares them in the face.

Other shows use household names but there doesn't seem to be the same animosity eg Guys and Dolls has been littered with names from TV and movies.

I think some of the aggro against Chicago may have been stirred up by Musicality. It was the West End show that co-operated with a reality TV talent show. The final four initially leapfrogged other trained and experienced performers for principal roles in shows.

It will be interesting to see what happens with The Sound Of Music if Maria is chosen on a TV programme. At least the producers of the show have said the auditions will be open to all, including current WE performers.

It's official. Chicago will be at the Cambridge until at least April 2007. I found this in a piece about Linzi Hately taking over from Jennifer Ellison in a fortnight or so.

I thought Linzi was really good when I saw her in February.

Edit : Jennifer is apparently playing Roxie on the UK tour. I don't know if it's all venues but presume it is.

As much as I now love Chicago I really hope this young man http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v78/1PamP/PamChicagoJune2106011small.jpg will be doing something different

Yes, I agree. It's time for Darius to get that trusty old Gibson out again.

other projects are all very well but it's his own songs that the public ought to hear.

He doesn't need to wait until Mr Perfectionist Danesh thinks the new material is spot on because even his staunchest fans haven't heard him sing more than half of Live Twice and virtually none of his tremendous b-sides from the beginning on.

Oh I've changed my mind....I have withdrawal symptoms....

I do think he should do something different BUT I think it would be nice for those north of the border and north of england who couldnt make london if he did the scottish leg of the tour. N o further announcements on casting apart from jennifer ellison as Roxie although ian kelsey who is now billy flynn had a whole two page spread on sunday in paper and has extended his run.
I got very excited this morning- iI was on my way to the dentist and saw a huge Chicago poster on a billboard in the High Street. If only Darius would do the Birmingham shows.....

I had to laugh when I read this in the star today re chicago. quote from Neil sean - sexbomb jennifer ellison proves that she is not just a pretty face as I can reveal the x brookside babe has attracted RECORD sales in chicago in the westend. People cant seem to get enough of jen. After this she'l be able to get any show she wants. According to WOS chart chicago is lying at no.16 in the poularity and sales whereas during Darius' run it was no.7 or 8.

Neil Sean - says it all. He reports only what he wants to with his own biased slant.

Watch his smug face - you can practically see him choking whenever he can't avoid the facts and has to say something positive about Darius.

mm, well if we were supposed to beleive the reviews about Darius then JE and the chap playing BIlly arent very good.

I would think Kelsey? would feel a bit niffed as he didn't get a mention from NS, at least Darius got a plug and a nice bit about Broadway beckoning from NS.

Kelsey has just joined Where The heart Is I believe. Probably easier money than 8 2hr+ live shows per week, as he gets re-takes etc to get it right.

I wonder what D will do next?

Well what I don't want Darius to do, is disrupt his recording schedule again. By my not very scientific reckoning, with the time he spent here before and after both runsin Chicago, he must have lost nearly six months' dedicated work on his album. I want more Darius music!

Darius was working on his music whilst over here apparently. Rachel told me off on .net for not realising it

I think in the back of my mind I was aware that he was doing some work in the studio.

How much could he achieve though?

IMHO it would have taken a Herculean effort to have concentrated on his music knowing he had to turn the creative tap off and on to fit in with 8 shows a week, where he had to be extremely disciplined and focussed all the time and where timing had to be spot on for his entrances and much of his dialogue?

I've still got a good visual memory and I can see Darius clearly when I remember some of his dialogue e.g. the look he gave the conductor who laughed heartily at "It's gotten so tough, they shoot the girls right out from under you."

So can I at the moment....but will I remember in 5 years....

It's like the Dive In Tour......why couldn't we have a video

Thank goodness for all the ones his fans took B)
