Posted June 4, 200619 yr I love Darius' voice best when he sings at acdcoustic gigs. I was watching 'Colourblind' from the Bognar accoustic set and his voice is fantastic. The clarity of the high notes gets lost or strained in the band sessions. I can only think of the 3 Maidstone events, the bognar one, one at Oxford and one at Glasgow. How many others were there and which did you enjoy most? Meg
June 4, 200619 yr He did a gig at fauldhouse miners club in lothian way back. I know sister mother and Maria went but dont know if it was acoustic or part, they wil know.
June 4, 200619 yr Author Yes he did. I was there but it wasn't a strictly accoustic set. It was really good though.
June 4, 200619 yr Maybe I say maybe he will do some gigs on a sunday whilst in chicago but I suppose he will be rushing off again to see Natasha but maybe she will come over. Maidstone would be lovely again.Although the press made derogatory comments about pizza hut etc I thought it was a lovely venue.
June 4, 200619 yr I saw D at the Brightstart concert 2004 in Grimsby. He had Sarah with him playing the keyboard while he plated guitar, not sure if this qualifies as an acoustic gig, but it was the only thing other than the Sheffield lights I have seen him without the band, excluding Chicago of course. He was fabulous that night, even though I could tell he had a little bit of a sore throat, and he played Wonerwall by Oasis. As far as I am aware, I am the only person on the sites that has seen him perform it live
June 4, 200619 yr Author That would be BP. You seem to be the only one on the site to have seen that. I'm not at all jealous
June 4, 200619 yr That would be BP. You seem to be the only one on the site to have seen that. I'm not at all jealous Meg, you know how incredibly jealous of you I am :) You have a relationship with Darius :o there is no other description for it. I truly envy you, but it's great you share so much of it with us I am really looking forward to seeing you and Nina again on the 8th :)
June 4, 200619 yr Author I don't have a relationship with him. He just remembers people. It'll be good to see you on the 8th.
June 4, 200619 yr I don't have a relationship with him. He just remembers people. It'll be good to see you on the 8th. Meg, you do have a relationship with him. You talk with him on the phone, arrange meetings, get invited into his dressing room You may not have every day contact with him, but you are doing a lot better than the rest of us :) So, I am VERY jealous of you :) It will be lovely to see you on the 8th :)
June 4, 200619 yr Author Pau, I don't talk to him on the phone. He has my number but is not good at phoning. It is an odd occasion when I go to his dressing room and the meetings are very factual.

Still a relationship though Meg, you are very lucky, but then again, so is D to have a fan like you :) Someone he can make special exceptions for, remember Butlins ;)
June 4, 200619 yr He was really lovely at Butlins It was fantastic wasn't it I wish I could have been there :(
June 8, 200619 yr I wish I could have gone to Butlin's too - particularly as it was the best of both worlds all in one day - an acoustic gig in the afternoon and a full on band gig in the evening - the only way it could have been topped I think, would have been if both sets had been longer - more of his songs - including maybe some we've not heard him do live before :D What were the set lists for the Butlin's gigs anyway, can anyone recollect them? I love Darius' voice best when he sings at acdcoustic gigs. I was watching 'Colourblind' from the Bognar accoustic set and his voice is fantastic. The clarity of the high notes gets lost or strained in the band sessions. I don't think that's always the case Meg, it hasn't seemed so with some songs, live performances with the band accompanyment to me anyway. I think sometimes maybe Darius's voice suffers a bit dependant upon how much energy/effort he's been putting into performing/covering the stage etc... i.e. I think that he can sometimes get a bit out of puff during/immediately following the more energetic numbers. But generally, how well things sound vocally-compared to the band sounds etc... is down to the sound technician getting the sound levels right I think - Darius shouldn't need to strain, or lose clarity, if the set up is right. Generally speaking it depends upon the actual song to me, whether I prefer to hear an acoustic version, or a fully produced/full band version - for me, often the music and other sounds enhance the song, by helping to convey the meaning of the lyrics, the mood etc... so, somethings can also be lost with a simple acoustic performance sometimes too. I can only think of the 3 Maidstone events, the bognar one, one at Oxford and one at Glasgow. How many others were there and which did you enjoy most? Meg I'm not sure now - having read through the thread :D - Originally, I would have said Fauldhouse too and the Century FM gig at Tiger, Tiger in Manchester; and the other similar one hosted by Rock FM (I think it was) in the Preston area - but I'm not so sure now. What it is that rules the Brightstart concert in; yet the Fauldhouse one out? ... I'm not really sure how we're defining an 'accoustic set'? :P Edited June 8, 200619 yr by Secret_Song

I'm not really sure how we're defining an 'accoustic set'? :P Can you give me some examples of these things and the particular songs SS. I must admit, I can't think of any occasions when anything is lost from the meaning of a songs lyrics, just because the song has been performed acoustically  Interested to see what you come up with :)
June 9, 200619 yr Author Butlins accoustic was quite short as he did a couple of question and answer sessions as well. We heard him rehearse 'Simple Like The Truth' and 'I'm Not Buying' which were both terrific (specially SLTT), but he didn't include them later. I suppose the Q&A sessions took their place. The set was comprised of Devil In You Baby Can I Hold You Faith Live Twice (knocks the socks of the recorded version - for me) Coloublind (The way he said it was written) I love this like this. Just guitars and voice no electric guitar or sound desk. It was lovely
June 9, 200619 yr the three songs he performed acoustically at Oxford were fantastic - although don't know if that counts as a gig as such, just him and Spencer - magical
June 9, 200619 yr I have to say, when I have seen Darius perform Live Twice acoustically, it absolutely blows the single version out of the water
June 9, 200619 yr Author It does to me. I like it when it's just him and a guitar ar him, his guitar and one other musician,
