June 9, 200619 yr When he sang Live Twice at Fauldhouse it was just the most magical part of the night for me. I was right in the middle of the crowd which had filled the venue yet it was so intimate because there was no "lights down" so that D could see everyone. He could see our emotions stirred by the song and as the song has me in bits because of how close the meaning comes to my life experience he could see how the song affected not just me but us all. The most wonderful bit for me was that he looked me right in the eyes and acknowledged the depth of my emotion as he finished the song. That is why the Fauldhouse "Live Twice" was so special, just D and Spencer and for a special moment, me. I love him doing Chicago, but I want just him, as him.
June 10, 200619 yr I couldn't believe how many people had travelled to Fauldhouse for this very unusual one-off gig. It's the most out of the way place I've ever seen Darius at. I was actually surprised at how nice it was inside. I got the feeling the committeee had given it a facelift for the occasion. The icing on the cake was that Darius waited behind to meet everyone. I was really glad he did that. However, I had a stinking cold so I didn't go up to him but I did have a good long chat with Karl and Spencer and that was a great consolation. One of the stewards also told me he'd invited the kids waiting outside for him in to watch his sound check because they couldn't get into the club at night because it was licensed. How nice was that? The atmosphere at Fauldhouse was absolutely fantastic, almost like the last scenes of the Full Monty, without any disrobing of course. It's a shame it was a gig of two very different halves although that was the whole point of the programme - teaming up amateurs who needed to raise funds with a professional and setting it in an unusual location. IMHO It would have been even better if Darius could have joined the other singers in a final medley to round off the first half. Remind me what the programme was called, please. I'm thinking something like "Let's Start ( Do/hold ? ) The Show Right Here"
June 10, 200619 yr Lets do the show right here Ms S ... I think Darius was surprised to see "his lot" there .. when he saw people from as far away as I had travelled it just gobsmacked him. From London, yes you can get anywhere, Anywhere else its a bit of a trek. The surprising thing for me was how ordinary everything was until he set foot in front of us and the whole place was sprinkled with stardust. There were people talking who hadnt seen each other in yonks, you and me included. If he were to do something like that again. The biggest thing about that event making me laugh? Sharon (everyone knows Sharon) riding over from Glasgow on her scooter. It took her four hours to find the place "oh my arse .. my arse is NUMB" and she never even had a ticket. Being a pal of Spence, he got her in just as D's set started, she rushed in, and leapt on me yelling "Im here!!" That was the night the snot faced meathead security told a mother with a little girl who came in the minute the bar was closed that Darius had gone. We knew better and said hold on and wait. She was going to believe the meatheads and the little girl was crying. We told her to hold on and sure enough, out comes our Man. The look on the little girl's face was worth the trip from home and the mother was so pleased she had hung on. Why do they do it, to make little girls cry. What is their mentality. I have no patience with security now. More like this please D
