The only problem you just end up struggling to find the tracks who really want, which you might want to use for the main competition, I think having a spin off, will just kill the main competition off, some members might get bored with it quickly.

and it would only have to be once every 3/4 months giving us time to think up other extreme spin off contests!

Well, spin-offs would mainly involve tracks that have already been used in the contest, and they would be very infrequent (a maximum of four a year, including a yearly Congratulations edition). By a Worst Song Contest, do we mean worst entry into the contest or worst song independent of the contest? :lol: If the former I predict Charis to win by miles :heehee:

 

And Congratulations would probably be better after ten contests after some thought...we're behind by a month so we'd have no time to do it after the 12th contest before next year as everyone evacuates the forums for Christmas :lol:

You know what guys, it´d be a good idea to have "special contests", for example the worst song contest, like Rich mentioned, where we send joke songs :lol:

Or another just for Number one hits, songs that everybody likes, it´d be interesting to see which one wins! :o

 

Anyways, something like that just in certain times, like new year´s, or special occasions :lol:

 

EDIT: And I so much agree with what Aaron´s been saying, 'male only', 'live performance only' etc. could be normal entries !

Also with David, themed contests could be boring at some point..

Exactly, we simply don´t enter songs that we LOVE, because they might be cheap, but could do it this time :lol:

Yeah, if we did a spin off it would have to be based on songs that people wouldn't usually enter to the normal contest. I like the idea of a #1 and/or #2 song version because most people wouldn't normally enter a song that did so well. There are, of course, exceptions to this - such as BJSC6 when two former UK #1 singles finished in the top 10 and the earlier contests where people were still quite new to the whole thing and they didn't "know better".

 

I don't know if these are intended to run at the same time as the proper contest though? I think it would be a bit of an overload if they ran both at the same time.

I've sort of been won around to the idea, but only if they involve songs that would not normally be entered to BJSC (maybe there could be a 70s theme or an 80s theme or something), if they are infrequent (0nce every few months) and they would have to be on a much smaller scale than the real Contest.
