August 16, 200816 yr I thought this was a nice tribute from the ElvisMatters website  31 years ago today http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y48/elvis1959/31.jpg 31 years ago today, the world was shocked at the sudden death of the undisputed King of Rock 'n' Roll, world's greatest, unmatched talent. Elvis Presley opened the doors for millions, altered the course of popular music and history, bringing joy and comfort to countless fans all over the globe. Today, we pay tribute to the Greatest Man that ever walked on this planet, Elvis Aron Presley, in loving memory.
August 16, 200816 yr I found these words on another Elvis site and thought I would include them here in my post because they summed up what this is all about  ‘’He was given a gift and he freely gave it to us and continues to draw people in from across the generations. Who would have thought the skinny little kid from the poor side of town would leave such a mark on the world and touch our hearts so deeply?!? It's really amazing when you think about how this is possible. It has happened with no other singer/entertainer and probably never will again. 42 was just so young to die. But, he had a full life...a fairytale-dream come true-rags to riches-ride of a lifetime...and he did it all his way. It was an impossible dream that he dared to dream, the polite rebel who loved his Mama and let the music take him to places that he - or we - had never been before. What a ride...what a story...what a man! May his legacy live on forever and continue to touch the hearts and lives of generations to come.’’ I can only echo those sentiments. Compared to many, I’m relatively new to the Elvis world, but in that time, I’ve grown to love him. His music has helped me in so many ways, when times are good and especially when times have been bad. Today I’ve been thinking back to this time last year, when I stood in the Meditation Gardens at 2am on the morning of 16th August, looking down on his grave, almost completely covered in tributes. As I silently thanked him for being in my life, I knew that this was going to be a memory I would cherish forever. I am so lucky - lucky to have been there that day, but even luckier that I discovered the music of Elvis in the first place. Today, as always, I’ve been thinking of Elvis with a mixture of sadness that he died so tragically young, and gratitude for all the music and memories he gave us and for the friendships we’ve made because of him. Thank you Elvis   http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y48/elvis1959/Chicagopressconference.jpg I’m Leavin’ 5slORJ26tis Tupelo’s Too Far 28RJ36nHKkc&NR=1 I’ll Remember You JLzGg5nnKrs Pieces Of My Life c0cThpxVHuo I Just Can’t Help Believin’ ApBJMrYcTmM
