The Saturdays - 'Up' 'Chasing Lights' [13.10.08] [27.10.08]

Featured Replies

He knows "FUKK ALL" about Frankie or The Saturdays, yet still throws his sly little comments about.

Everyone can get personal you know, not just people who think they know it all.

And you shut up on this score, this is the POP thread. You keep going on about these "Punk/Rock legends" like we actually give a sh!t.

If we wanted to learn about all of this c**p you're listening to, I'm sure we'd find our way into that part of the forum.

However, this is discussing The Saturdays, Their new single and their new POP album.

Donny Tourette is certainly no "legend" except in his own tiny brain, I gave him as an example of an 'artist' (in the loosest sense when prescribed to him it has to be said...) of a genre that I DO like, but also an example of someone who made just a big a tw@t of himself as Frankie did....

Frankie's appearance of "...Buzzcocks" last night is totally relevant to this thread anyway, I repeat, she went on their to try and "shift units" or at the request of her record company/mangers/agents..... Whatever, she could've said "no" at the end of the day, which perhaps would've been the wisest course... So, the fact remains, she put herself out there, she made the comments, tough sh!t......

What was it that she said that was funny then?

It was funny, but for all the wrong reasons, no one was laughing with her.... It was "car crash" telly really.....

What was it that she said that was funny then? Actually forget that what did she say that actually appropriate to the current conversation?

Sorry but to me she just came across to me as a whole lot of nothing who didn't even understand anyone elses jokes let alone say anything remotely funny or interesting!

Exactly. She even said that she didn't get their jokes and any time they were going slightly off the subject of the current round - y'know, being funny - she would kill it with "ok guys let's go back to guessing who it is" etc. like she was the host. It's like she was expecting something like 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' rather than a comedy quiz show.

This, along with her not knowing the lyrics from her own song then debating it afterwards, making up words and just her general attitude made her (and therefore the Saturdays) come across badly.

It's been said that her core fanbase wouldn't have been watching (though I liked both of their singles and I watched) but isn't the point of promotion to reach out to other people? A Saturdays fan would already know they exist, have a single out soon etc. so she would have been on there to raise awareness of the single/the group's existence in general for those who didn't know. I expect anyone who wasn't a Saturdays fan before the show wasn't exactly converted by this appearance.

The line "You Think I'm Crazy" is not blatantly obvious to anyone.

It's a line that's been used, in many variations, uncountable times before.

Well that just shows how sh!tly written is then doesn't it.

She quite embarrased herself to the honest, fairly nice but she clearly doesnt give a sh!t about the musical side of her career anyway.

Not knowing the lyrics to your own song especially after performing it so frequently is not only embarrasing, but completely ignorant.

Time and time again singers/bands who actually have a passion for music who deserve to do well fail to get anywhere yet the

undeserving idiots always seem to come out on top.

Now i may only be 17 but looking back through the years you would not see such a travesty happening 20 years ago.

This has been a bitterly dissapointing year for music, one of the worst in memory imo.

Pop songs nowadays consist of desperate attempts at trying to sound different, 60s/70s/80s copycats, auto-tuned robots and The Saturdays, all dreadful bar the odd ocassional blip.

I'm still yet to be convinced these are the so called 'new Spice Girls', everything ive heard so far i wouldnt give better than 7/10, pleasant songs

but they really do lack everything from decent melodies, lyrics to general knowledge.

I watched Frankie on Never Mind The Buzzcocks... it was fine, she didn't come accross bad at all, she came accross like a teenager would. She was really sweet imo.
A clip of it is up as Popjustice's song of the day if you want to hear it. ;)
Frankie said on GMTV the album is called 'Chasing Lights' so I don't know why it's not on the cover.
It will be on the side, like a load of other cd's!
