November 14, 200717 yr My Chemical Romance drummer explains wrist problems My Chemical Romance's Bob Bryar has written about his recent injuries, which caused the band to axe shows.. Writing on their Myspace Bryar addressed the cancellation of their date in Maine. He wrote: "We are very sorry about cancelling our recent show in Maine. I have been having many problems with my wrists over the past few years. They have been getting worse but I kept playing. I have seen many doctors to get some relief so I wouldn't have to stop playing. I guess I pushed it too hard this time. "During our show at Maxwell's I got a golf ball-sized lump in my wrist, I started to not only have pain, but lose control and feeling in my fingers. "I went through a process to control the swelling and attempted to play the show with Bon Jovi the next day. The Bon Jovi show was really bad for me - I was dropping sticks and could barely hit my drums. "After that show we decided I had to go get immediate treatment. I had to leave the tour. Being the stubborn person I am, I made a last minute decision to give it another shot on the second Bon Jovi show. It didn't work, we had to cut the set in half. We have a fill in now as I am getting treatment - he learned the songs in one day. We will try our hardest to make the show up to you when the specialists give me the okay." http://static.nme.com/images/84_myChemicalRomance1_L230107.jpg http://www.nme.com/news/my-chemical-romance/32468
November 14, 200717 yr Review: My Chemical Romance, Metro Radio Arena Often referred to as one of the driving forces behind the “emo” subculture rampant among teenagers today, I was wary as to the type of audience I’d find at a My Chemical Romance concert. There was little reason to worry as the hall was filled with an eclectic mix; children, their parents, young couples and not so young couples, all finished off with the mandatory splattering of angst-filled youth in eyeliner. Bursting on to stage with elaborate pyrotechnics, the band automatically asserted their stage presence, with frontman Gerard Way belting through several high-energy numbers, including one fans’ favourite: I’m Not Okay (I Promise). The set continued with a melange of songs plucked from their second and third albums, juxtaposed to suit old and new fans alike. Way worked the audience up into a frenzy with his frivolity, at one point donning a mask and proclaiming to the crowd that they were his “gems and jewels”, before a stunning performance of another popular track, Teenagers. While the singles were the best-received, the energy from the audience didn’t let up as they danced and clapped through every number with the enthusiasm so rightly deserved from such a performance. The encore began with a beautiful version of Cancer, a gentle track from The Black Parade, so haunting and emotional that for once in the gig the crowd didn’t sing back, but just listened. Helena seemed a more-than-apt choice for a final song. One of the firm favourites with MCR fans, it saw the band bowing out to a backdrop of flames and fireworks, with the lyrics “So long, and good night”. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/whats-on-ne...72703-20100505/
November 14, 200717 yr Gerard Way Recoils At 'Sex, Drugs And Rock 'N Roll' Mantra Given that My Chemical Romance front man Gerard Way has battled through depression and drug abuse, his opinion of the mantra "sex, drugs and rock 'n roll" is not one the 30-year-old endorses. "It's a dinosaur in itself," Way tells Rolling Stone magazine. "If we, as musicians, could evolve past that, maybe we could make something worthwhile. That's not just me speaking as somebody who got clean and sober - that has nothing to do with it. When I was abusing drugs, the allure of self-destruction kept me in it. There's something very romantic about self-destruction and sabotaging your life, and taking a hammer to it. Honestly, it's bullsh**. That doesn't mean we can't be crazy and expressive and amazing or that we have to behave, because we're all artists and we're all nuts in some way, but you can treat people with respect and yourself with respect." http://attblueroom.com/music/buzz.php?id=1041&tab=buzz

November 15, 200717 yr My Chemical Romance lose another member Family circumstances force Frank Iero to depart UK tour 14.Nov.07 4:12pm - Nme.com http://www.nme.com/news/my-chemical-romance/32518 http://static.nme.com/images/84_MyChemicalRomance_L230107.jpg My Chemical Romance guitarist Frank Iero has dropped out of the band's world tour, leaving them with just three full-time members. Iero left the tour following Sunday's show (November 11) in Newcastle after learning of a family member's illness. He will be temporarily replaced by guitar tech Matt Cortez, who already has experience up on stage. It was he who stood in on bass for Mikey Way when he took a six-month hiatus from the band earlier this year after getting married. However, this latest news leaves My Chemical Romance with only Gerard and Mikey Way, plus lead guitarist Ray Toro, as the only permanent members on the current tour. Drummer Bob Bryar is already having sit dates out after persistent wrist complaint became worse. Bryar is still travelling with the band however, assisting with the show's pyrotechnics. He is being replaced by "a friend of ours named Pete who plays in another band, so has asked us kindly not to say the name," according to Gerard Way. The singer assured NME.COM that fans will still get a full throttle, if slightly altered, MCR experience: "We've been through a lot of stuff on this record, dealt with life situations and stuff. Ultimately it's gonna be a little different and look a little different, but we're ready for this." My Chemical Romance's sold-out UK tour continues at London's 02 Arena tomorrow (November 15) before moving on to Belfast.
November 15, 200717 yr Author Eeek :o Ah well I'm only going to see Gerard and to hear the songs :smoke: I do hope whatever's wrong with Frank's relative isn't too drastic :(
November 15, 200717 yr Seems bad news is following the band lately :o Hope everything works out well for all of them :(
November 16, 200717 yr This is weird. The last song they did at the o2 was 'Famous last words' with 'Helena' about two thirds of the way in the set. Unless they're mixing up the setlist every night?
November 16, 200717 yr Well the setlist can change I suppose, happens with other bands and artists aswell.
November 17, 200717 yr My Chemical Romance Hope To Play Reading and Leeds Speaking to Festivalwise, My Chemical Romance have said that they hope to play the Reading and Leeds Festivals next year. Bassist and brother of frontman Gerard, Mikey Way, said that although nothing has been confirmed, they have the British festival in their sights. He said: “I don't know if we're actually playing it or not or if we're going to be on tour but I'd love to do Reading and Leeds. If the opportunity arose I'd be more than happy, that's a legendary festival." Asked about guitarist Frank Ieo pulling out of the UK shows, he explained: "Frank's not on the tour due to a medical emergency with his family but we're pretty sure he'll be in Australia with us" On the subject of injured drummer Bob Bryar he simply added "Yeah man, Bob's like super injured right now" http://www.festivalwise.com/news.asp?id=38699
