My Chemical Romance fans plan march against Daily Mail

Fans will picket offices in protest against 'suicide cult' claims

My Chemical Romance fans are planning to march across London in protest against the depiction of the band in the media.

The march, to be held on May 31, will begin at Hyde Park's West Pond and end outside the offices of The Daily Mail.

The newspaper has recently dubbed My Chemical Romance a 'suicide cult' band in its coverage of the suicide of 13-year-old emo Hannah Bond.

Three hundred fans are so far confirmed to march against the British press, of which the organisers from the MCR Buzznet Community in a statement claim The Daily Mail is the 'worst offender'.

In 2006, the newspaper widely criticised emo and My Chemical Romance and has recently run general pieces about the dangers of the 'cult'.

Even MCR Fans Draw Line at Tabloid’s Bad Taste

History is full of surprises. No one could have predicted the devastation of Pompeii, the sinking of the Titanic, or the attack on Pearl Harbor. In a similar, but slightly more trivial and superficial way, no one would have ever predicted that an attack on supporters of My Chemical Romance would be unwarranted, since that band is the polar opposite of what most musical people consider valuable, organic music. Consequently, seeing this story unfold is a bit like watching the meanest jock in school beat up the lamest geek. The shock is so great it’s difficult to know whom to side with.

Showing they actually do have standards, fans of My Chemical Romance are amassing in protest of the British tabloid the Daily News, after the paper repeatedly referred to the sad-eyed band as a “suicide cult,” NME reported Tuesday. The references came after the hanging suicide of 13-year-old MCR fan Hannah Bond, whose death, in accordance with the wildly misguided beliefs of people who watch TV instead of spending time with their kids, was predictably blamed on the band, and emo as a whole.

The newspaper’s choice of words has earned the paper a black-haired, malnourished, eyeliner-wearing protest march across London, culminating in the mass emo-picketing of the Daily Mail’s offices. The organizers, who are reportedly members of the MCR Buzznet Community and thus probably have an array of witty comebacks rehearsed and ready to go, have called the Daily Mail “the worst offender” of the British press. The 300-strong march will take place May 31, beginning at Hyde Park’s west pond and ending outside the paper’s offices on Derry Street. Whether the congregation will pit stop at Hot Topic has not been announced.

Like Simon Cowell bashing William Hung, this is sort of a contest between two jackasses, and it would probably be easier to just wipe them both off the map. However, while liking bad music is mostly an innocent side effect of trying to be cool, blaming a deep-rooted social tragedy like teen suicide on something as temporary and surface-level as fashion is massively ignorant, and much more destructive. The idiot-o-meter is off the charts here, but it looks like in a case like this, it’s better to side with the lesser of two evils. But just this once.

We’re all familiar with media twisting truth and being a pack of uninformed r*t****. Nothing unusual. But, I recently found a fantastic low point recently while cruising Fark.com. Read the following article from The Mail on Sunday http://www.mailonsunday.co.uk/femail/artic...r-cult-emo.html

Why am I not convinced the "reporter" has any idea what he’s talking about?

Despite the fact that I hate emo subculture (if it can be called a subculture) with a passion, this alarmist bullsh#t has to stop. I remember being in high school when Columbine happened, and Marilyn Manson caught a completely unnecessary amount of flack from something he had nothing to do with (incidentally, I have no love for Marilyn Manson either). It’s almost refreshing to know that not much has changed in almost a decade.

I figure these baby boomer "me-me-me-me-me-me!" parents are completely detached from their children. The same problem is true of any "youth epidemic." Perhaps they never stopped to think that maybe these teens committed suicide and indulged in self-mutilation because their family structure is about as stable as a house made of wet napkins.

Western civilization is falling apart. Blaming any, any, music style, movie, or video game for an epidemic of youth tragedy is a cop-out. There’s an underlying problem in society, and I think it has something to do with the decline in the quality of life in the Western world. Salaries are down, costs for everything are up, and the young are getting f#cked at every turn. You don’t want your darling angel to be hanging from the ceiling by her neck? Then try making the world a better place for her to live in.

Stop being detached from your families.

Hire younger workers and instill in them a decent work ethic by actually paying them a wage they can live on.

Stop being an alarmist moron and try thinking for yourselves once in a while.

Look within before placing the blame on a music trend, you douche.

My Chemical Romance march hit by 'internet terrorists'

"Internet terrorists" have attempted to sabotage the upcoming demonstration against The Daily Mail by fans of My Chemical Romance.

In an apparent attempt to discredit the protest, the group have created a copy of the fans' website with a similar web address.

The false website includes videos incorrectly claiming that the fans will commit mass suicide outside The Daily Mail's offices on May 31, in protest against the paper's representation of emo in relation to the recent suicide of teenager Hannah Bond.

In reality, however, the group will merely protest peacefully outside the newspaper's offices.

The march's organiser Anni Smith told NME.COM: "They're trying to put out really incorrect information to try and sabotage us. We believe [the fake site] is by Anonymous, who are basically internet terrorists. They play really elaborate internet pranks.

"We need to get the message across to people about which websites to look at for the correct information. As well as the official site - Whatthefrank.co.uk - we've got a YouTube channel which will be kept up to date - youtube.com/whattheffrank."

Smith also commented on Gerard Way's recent quotes on the suicide of Hannah Bond and accusations of the band's influence, saying: "It's great to see that, it's reiterating everything that I've always said, it's good to know we're right."

THE BLACK PARADE IS COMING!

To our friends,

The Black Parade is Dead! is coming. We are really proud of it and hope you love it as much as we do. Unfortunately, because we are perfectionists and would never let anything get to you that was not the very best, it has been delayed by a week. There was a strange glitch in the Mexico City performance due to some electronic something or other. But it is fixed.

So now it is going to be in stores on July 1. To all of our pre-order and special packaging buddies, you will not need to do anything different. It will get to you in tip-top shape. We saw the special package last week. You are going to be so happy if you already purchased this. If you didn't, we're sure you're a happy person anyway, but wow is this incredible. We hope that all of you understand and thank you in advance. It is really awesome to know that you will. We will keep you updated on things as they come. We will start writing very soon.

xoxoxo,

MCR

P.S. - as a consolation prize, you can have this

See if I had mone yI would've gone to this.

Its disgusting. Always happens though. The media did the same with Nirvana yonks ago accusing them for suicides.

I mean I do not know anybody at all who listens to MCR and has urges to cut themselves, tbh for me it has done exactly the opposite and I think it's f***ing appalling. -_- I will form my own protest. Recruiting terrorists to bomb the Daily Mail buildings :smoke:

My Chemical Romance emo protest to be turned into film

My Chemical Romance fans protest at the Daily Mail's London office

Emo vs The Daily Mail filmed for documentary

The protest by My Chemical Romance fans against the Daily Mail's coverage of emo at the weekend (May 31) has been filmed for a documentary.

Internet music site Audio Junkies filmed the protest and have posted a trailer online already (watch it below).

Entitled Emo protest vs Daily Mail, the documentary covers the protest and includes footage of fans tearing up a Daily Mail newspaper as well as interviews with gathered protestors.

Comments on the video trailer on Youtube.com range from supportive to very negative.

It is unknown when the full-length version of the film will be released.

My Chemical Romance fans protested outside the Daily Mail's office following articles published in the paper that branded emo a 'suicide cult', although the Daily Mail defended its coverage as 'balanced and restrained'.

I would gladly let Gerard eat my kids! B)

Personally I am planning to contact this paper myself because I'm f***ing fed up of the band and the term EMO in general being slated this way. People are jus tafraid and don't understand what exactly it is so they blame all the bad things on it. It's like to a lesser extent - Nazis blaming everything on the Jews. OK maybe I'm over reacting but still.

I know lots of emos and they don't harm themselves and many fans of MCR who constantly say how the music has changed their lives and heck even saved them from doing the sort of things the band are being accused of here by some stupid $h!trag myself included.

Let's burn the Mail On Sunday HQ :smoke:

Mmmm Beaver :smoke: So first you wanna have his babies and then he can eat them, interesting to say the least

I think people get confused because kids who consider themselves emo may use some of the theatrical looks that MCR have used, being copied however doesn’t make them emo.

I have given up on ever having Gerard's babies :drama:

Alas love is for people who are too retarded to know any better. :smoke:

Oh, and I heard a rumor that I died in a car accident. I didn't.

That made me laugh

I want new songs B) but I think we'll have to wait a lil bit more :(

That was quite funny yes  The rumours and gossip you have to deal with when you're a celeb huh :(

We all want new songs but I guess we just have to wait and see when the guys are inspired enough to write and record new material, it'll be worth waiting for <333

INNIT.

I love you Nicky

I think everybody takes ages in between albums these days unless you're like Westlife/Girls Aloud or something. It's more of a test to try and make something as good as possible but in most cases the result is c**p.

I have every faith that the boys will come back with a stormer and I'd wait as long as possible. :kink:

Yeah its the best way obvs. Not that I wish them to go thru painfull times but its creating great lyrics
