Hmmm, I understand what you mean with Embrace vs. Dusk Til Dawn, but I think that Distant Dreamer is quite allowable tbh - if there's one thing I've found, it's that nobody can agree on the best track on Rockferry

from the first day I got the album and before I knew it was going to be a single, Warwick Avenue stood above the rest of the album for me

Delayed Devotion is my second favourite track

Indeed. I don't understand how people can really feel they've achieved anything with stuff that will obviously do well as everyone knows it will do well - if anything, I preferred my 12th place with Meddle to my 7th with Rachel Stevens (and before we mention Ashlee, I wanted to see if that would actually do well as it had been so long :heehee:) as I did introduce the track to people such as Boyan. Make me proud Camille! :dancing:

which is why I'm pleased that you switched to Camille...you clearly love the track and care if it does well or fails

if I sent a great Britney track from Blackout, I'm sure it would do well but I couldn't care less if it won or came last because I would have no emotional connection with the track (as sad as that sounds)

That is why I (Nonsuch) have my penalty points weighting system which favours unknown songs & artists and penalises well known artists & songs, because I personally feel that is much more in the spirit of the competition.

Personally, Cyndi Lauper finishing 3rd was a much greater achievement than Lily Allen winning.

For this competition I've fallen back on a slightly cheap entry with (for me) the stand out album track on the biggest selling UK album of 2008 so far and my favourite new song I've heard all year, as the (relatively unknown) artist I wanted to use (CLUE: Look at my current Personal Chart #1) had already been grabbed for a different (& IMHO inferior) song, and I've failed to find anything recently obscure as good as that song.

So this (my 4th) BJSC is the first one I'm entering feeling slightly shafted with my compromised song choice.

I agree, Cyndi coming top 3 was a huge achievement for Nonsuch seeing as she's an 80's star first and foremost! I feel prouder of my results with Sanna, Maria and Mira, Untouched than my win with Sara Bareilles...I guarantee someone else would have sent Love Song had I not got there first

whereas I sincerely doubt anyone would have sent Maria & Mira/Sanna and I know for a fact nobody would have sent Untouched as they are complete unkonwns

and Embrace is amazing and it won a similar competition on chc, but then again chc has more indie-lovers than on here, where it is mostly pop fans

Dusk Till Dawn is great too though and both of Ladyhawke's singles have persuaded me to get her album when it comes out :D shame Embrace isn't on there though :(

Personally, I don't think there should be any restrictions on what artists/songs should be sent and (I think) I generally favour new music to well known stuff. I think it adds variety to the contest to have a brand new artist/song combo going up against an established names such as Chistina Aguilera, Brandy and Dido and makes it even more impressive if the new song actually beats them. I think what made Margaret's win last time round so exciting was that she beat P!nk and so I'd hate it if the oppertunity to even try and beat these hit singles would eb taken away.

With regards to the continually changing artists, I think the best route is to have a limit of reserving three artists at a time (if you want more than three then you can rotate which artists you reserve throughout the build up to the contest). In addition we should not open the official confirmation thread until about one week before the semis but there should be a rule of you may not change the artist/song once you have confirmed them, this is simply to make it easier on the host so they can get everything ready in time for the semis. I don't mind all the changes personally as I have a fair bit of spare time but a lot of people at school/college/work don't have that time and it doesn't seem fair that some people may be denied the oppertunity to host the contest through lack of time.

Ditto for me, as well, when I bought the album.

Its like listening to Sharleen Spiteri's album for the first time, I had a favourite already, and I thought I use it for my entry, it was something different I never done before.

Im Currently rethinking which GaGa song to send:

Should i..

Keep Poker Face

Or send..

Boys Boys Boys

OR

Beautiful Dirty Rich

change Poker Face if I were you, it's just a clone of Just Dance...either of the other tracks is better

I personally love 'Poker Face' :( I can see why some people might think its similar to 'Just Dance' though.

Personally if I were to choose a track off of Lady GaGa's album to send to BJSC I'd send either 'Love Games' or 'Papparazi', but that's just me. :heehee:

OMG, I totally forogt about Papparazi!! I may send that.... :o

Opinions on that?

YES send it! It would very likely get high points from me at least! :D I think it's probably the most different from 'Just Dance' too.
Paparazzi, Boys Boys Boys and Beautiful Dirty Rich would all be likely to get points from me as they're all fabulous!

I think Poker Face is pretty certain to do well as is any song by Lady Gaga - I'd stick with it :P
Not sure that's just not bias on your part of not wishing to download another video brunoboi? :heehee: Pokerface would be quite a dull return for Lady GaGa seeing as it's almost identical to Just Dance...

Me? Biassed? Never!

But I so stand by what I said, they're all very good songs which are quite guaranteed to do well

much better choice :D now you have a chance of points from FSR Rontvia :cheer:

'Dusk Til Dawn' pales in comparison to the complete anthem that is 'Embrace'! :drama:

It does need a better edit though, I think 5 1/2 minutes will be too long for this contest however the radio edit is $h!t.
