Anastacia's back... but there's not much bang

Just the other day we were screeching along to 'Left Outside Alone' and thinking, 'Whatever happened to Anastacia, eh?' Well, our question was answered a few hours ago when her comeback single got its first spin on Radio 2. It's called 'I Can Feel You' and it's produced by Ne-Yo, who seems incapable at the moment of saying no to anyone who's a) female and B) has vocal cords.

 

Anyway, enough of that, is the single any good? Well, 'I Can Feel You' begins promisingly with the sort of percolating, lightly funky disco groove that makes grown men wish they had a handbag to dance around. Sadly, the chorus is about as rousing as a cup of cocoa and 'I Can Feel You' never really recovers. To be honest, it's quite a disappointing comeback single from Anastacia, a singer with a big old foghorn of a voice who's at her most appealing when she's got something to really tear into.
