I wish i joined the contest since the beginning, so i could be the part of BIG 5 :kink: In fact i was only about 1-2 days late for the third contest :(

There is no right song choice, it depends really on what the voters tastes in music are like at that stage, because they always tend to change so its more like luck than right song choice, I think

well, maybe the right song choice for Buzzjack then...female pop is your best bet if you want success

I think the size of the contest now is just making it harder to qualify. Since BJSC VII there has always been 10-18 countries that have to miss out from the final so there's a bigger chance of the 'big' countries missing out, the only time semis had been this big before was in BJSC II.

 

I almost forgot that the top 10 from the previous contest used to a free pass to the final if a semi final was necessary, so all you needed was a string of top 10 finishes to take part. In this era only the winner has a free pass to the final, possibly the second placer, that must make things worse for Simon - if one more person signed up this time he would have had a free pass to the final after P!nk's result.

I can't say I'm overkeen on some of the songs I've given high odds too but it's the nature of the beast :lol:

I think the fact that 'Into The Nightlife' finished that high is proof that getting a free pass to the final isn't as much of a disadvantage as we make out, we obviously didn't pick good enough songs when we had a free pass to the final because we didn't have to work as hard to get a place there. (I say we because it's pretty much only me and you who have had the 'hosts curse' so far :heehee:) Thisispop obviously didn't use his free pass to the final as an excuse to slack off with his entry.

Yeah, I was referring to the large semi-final era mostly because before then only one host had flopped in the following contest. 5/9 winners finished top 10 when they hosted and Eledan's isn't really a flop as it is top half. So the only host flops come from me, you and David so far. I think it's probably just a coincidence that two of the last three hosts have flopped, we just didn't pick good enough songs. If I had to guess, I'd say Roisin will probably fall short of the top 10, maybe at around 13th or 14th, which is pretty much on the border for flop/success.

Everyone keeps saying I'm going to win, but I really don't think that's going to happen. :lol:
