Lorraine Elston and Siobhan Chadd have become firm friends since Closer exposed the love rat who cheated on them with pop start Anastacia

 

Lorraine Elston could hardly believe what she was hearing from the stranger on the phone.

Still reeling in from the shock that the father of her two children had dumped her for American singer Anastacia, Lorraine was now facing a second bombshell.

“I’m sorry,†said Siobhan Chadd, “but I was having an affair with Wayne for 13 years. I thought you should knowâ€.

It was dreadful and humiliating news, yet 44-year-old Lorraine says she is glad she knows the truth about the man whom she spent 13 years of her life.

Last month, Lorraine told Closer how Wayne Newton, 39, father of her children Corey, 10, and three-year-old Max, had left the family home in Beckenham, Kent, to be with the singer after falling for her while working as her minder.

Siobhan, 40, read the story then phoned Lorraine to say she too had been in a relationship with Wayne for 13 years.

“Now that I know that I’m better off without him,†says Lorraine.

“Siobhan didn’t know about me and the children all the time Wayne was having an affair with her. He lied to her for 13 years. It’s unbelievable he could see someone for that long and now mention us. I just hope Anastacia knows what she’s letting herself in for.â€

Siobhan and Lorraine are now friends, and are supporting each other through what has been a difficult time for them both.

“If I’d known about Lorraine and the children I would never have gone near Wayne,†says Siobhan, a health and safety administrator from south London.

“But I always believed he was a single man who travelled the world minding stars. When you fall for someone, I suppose you tend to believe what you want to believe.â€

Siobhan recalls how during what she describes as a 13-year “on-off†affair with the muscular minder, he invited her to top London hotels and got her tickets to the concerts of stars he was minding, including Toni Braxton and Simply Red.

Siobhan met Wayne in the early ‘90s where he was a bouncer at a London club, but there relationship was never stable.

“He would often stay the night at my flat. We’d have a great time eating takeaways and watching video’s, but then we’d always end up in the bedroom,†she recalls.

But she says it wasn’t just about the sex: “He was a great listener and we got on well. I was born with my lower right arm missing, but Wayne wasn’t put off. He made me feel attractive and sexy.â€

However Wayne made it clear to her that he wasn’t willing to commit.

“I always wanted more, but he said he wanted to keep it casual. I hoped he’d change his mind one day, but it became clear that wasn’t going to happen.

“There were times when I didn’t hear from him for 6 months or maybe even a year, so I got involved with someone else,†recalls Siobhan.

But when they were together Wayne was the perfect gentleman, meeting Siobhan’s mum and friends.

When Wayne was working he kept in contact with phone calls.

“In 13 years the mast never slipped,†she says. “I had to idea he was effectively married, let alone that he had two children just a few miles away.â€

“I often hoped that one day Wayne and I would get married but he always put his job first - or at least that’s what he told me.

“I’ve been a fool. He had used me and I want Anastacia to know what a liar he is. I never want to see or speak to him again.â€

Lorraine told closer last month how she discovered secret emails between Wayne and the American singer Anastacia. She confronted him about the relationship and he finally admitted he was seeing her. But he carried on lying to Siobhan. “I heard from Wayne in March, when he phone me to say there was a story in the papers about him and Anastacia,†she says.

“He said it was all lies, that Lorraine wasn’t his partner and that he didn’t have any children. I believed him.

“But when I read the story in Closer, I realised that he’d been lying all along.

“I found Lorraine’s phone number and called to tell her the truth - I felt she deserved to know. There is no animosity between us all,†says Siobhan.

She then emailed Wayne, asking him to explain himself. He replied:

“Thanks - none of my good friends have judged me, but since you have, you can’t be a friend.â€

“The main reason I’m telling my story is because of the way Wayne has dealt with it. He’s a liar and he’s not even sorry,†says Siobhan.

“I don’t care about Anastacia, but I’m furious he lied about Lorraine because he was with her for years and I never knew.

“I’d advice Anastacia to take her time with him. She’s been through enough already with her breast cancer and treatment, and she doesn’t need any more heartache.â€
