Oh, and it looks like Take That's new album will be out before Chrimbo. If it is as unexpectedly good as Beautiful World then it will be a great album.

I can't wait...I bought Beautiful World on it's day of release in the hopes that there would be another track half as good as Patience

I didn't realise I was buying one of the greatest pop album's of the decade

They're supposed to be in LA for the next month doing the mastering. John Shanks' website seems to confirm it too. I hope it is a good one - although BW and Patience in particular, is going to be hard to beat.

An outside chance of a shot at Xmas Number 1

At first it was assumed it was just Gary Barlow involved with Peter Kay but it is apparently Take That and Peter Kay.

Normally I'm against comedy records (even if TT are involved) but if it hinders X-Factor in any way - I'll buy a copy. Heck - I don't like Robbie Williams - but if he brings something out in time - I'd even buy that to try to stop Cowell getting his evil way!

The Wombats are to go head-to-head with the winner of this year's X Factor for the coveted Christmas number one.

Charity single 'Is This Christmas?', to be released on December 15, is likely to face competition from the whoever takes the talent show crown.

Former X Factor winners Shayne Ward, Leona Lewis and Leon Jackson have all reached the top of the Christmas charts in the past three years.

'Is This Christmas?' producer Tore Jonansson remarked that the single is different to previous songs released by the group.

"[it shows]a darker and more mature side to the band, with lyrics encompassing the experiences of the surreal, and often lonely, life of a band on the road," he said.

Wombats drummer Dan Haggis recently commented that the band is hoping to persuade a Liverpool celebrity to appear on the video for the track.

I doubt they'll beat the X Factor, but I for one will be buying it. It's for charity, and also it's about the REAL Christmas, which is really about family arguments and stuff, and not rosting chestnuts over the fire.
