Posted September 7, 200816 yr Lots of bands have changed their lead singer for various reasons, but which version was the best? Or were they just as good after the change. Ones that come to mind are: Genesis Manfred Mann Pink Floyd Fleetwood Mac AC/DC What set up was best, and what other bands changed lead singer, and did they improve or not?

September 9, 200816 yr Lots of bands have changed their lead singer for various reasons, but which version was the best? Or were they just as good after the change. Ones that come to mind are: Genesis Manfred Mann Pink Floyd Fleetwood Mac AC/DC What set up was best, and what other bands changed lead singer, and did they improve or not? I don't think any of them bar Pink Floyd improved after changing lead singer I couldn't stand Genesis anyways or their solo projects apart from Mike Rutherford's stuff AC/DC are good under Brian Johnson but he tries to be Bon Scott whereas no one will ever be Fleetwood Mac I loved the Peter Green/Jeremy Spencer era and the Bluesbreakers stuff although they were like a prequel to Fleetwood Mac and although I liked some later stuff no Fleetwood Mac line up will ever come close to replacing Green/Spencer line up I will throw into the mix Rainbow - For me Ronnie James Dio is one of the finest rock vocalists of all time and they just never were the same again with Graham Bonnet and Joe Lynn Turner Queen - oh please why the hell are they still going, Queen WAS Freddie, no disrespect to Paul Rodgers who is a great vocalist but why is he lowering himself to participating in this cashing in on the Queen brand May is doing :manson: Deep Purple - Ian Gillan and David Coverdale both legends but the band was not the same without either of them on vocals Iron Maiden - Paul Di Anno blows Bruce Dickinson out of the water
September 10, 200816 yr Well as a Iron Maiden fan..... Paul Di Anno to Bruce Dickinson, Paul was best suited for their first 2 albums, infact in my opinion best suited then any other singer in rock/metal at the time, however Bruce was amazing after the first 2 albums when he came in. Blaze Bayley after Bruce was just $h!t. And as a big Black Sabbath fan.... Even though Ronnie James Dio is a better singer then Ozzy he can never replace Ozzy. The best Sabbath was done with Ozzy and no-one can change that. Anthrax. Neil Turbin replaced by Joey Belladonna.... good call Belladonna is fantastic. Belladonna replaced by John Bush..... oh dear.
September 22, 200816 yr Marillion - imo with Fish they were much better. there was a maillion video on power ballads weekend the other day...obv marillion invented themselves as they were pissed off with peter gaberial not being in genesis...as obv he was hired as he is a bit of a gabriel sound-a-like...tho i then thought maybe genesis tried to replaced phil collins with fish but accidentaly hired his lookilike from stiltskin instead... btw the best instant of band changing their lead singer imo was Shane Fenton with the Fentones...who replaced Shane Fenton with alvin stardust.... ...under the same name however as people might have come to this threaD from the stiff records thread...i wouldnt want them to vomit too much at the thought of alvin stardust...so here is something quite brilliant by Adam F & Redman instead :cheer: :yahoo: :cheer: Pj5BNgd6F_I Adam F & Redman - Smash Sumthin
