Delta hits the catwalk in New York From correspondents in Los Angeles

 

AUSSIE songstress Delta Goodrem has left her stamp on New York Fashion Week, taking to the catwalk as well as providing music for one of the world's most watched fashion events.

 

Organisers had sought Goodrem's permission to play her hit song, In This Life, as models showed off the latest offerings from some of the world's top designers.

 

But when they realised the singer could pass as a catwalk model herself, they invited her to strut her stuff.

 

Goodrem, in a floor-length orange dress that showed off her shoulders, looked comfortable as she stepped out in front of some of the world's most fashionable people.

 

She was pleasantly surprised, and said "I'll give it a go," when organisers asked her to take part in the parade.

 

She told the Channel 7 she was looking forward to returning home to Australia for a series of intimate performances later this year.

 

"I still can't wait for the tour, that's like my Christmas present," she told Seven.

 

She also revealed how her fashion week foray almost didn't happen after immigration officials detained and questioned her when she arrived in Los Angeles last week.

 

"It actually happens to me every time, because there's something in the system that's a wrong passport, it's an old passport," she said, laughing off the incident.
