Too young to be Fagin? Theatrical make-up can do wonders. I think he might enjoy such a role (for a limited time)

It would take him away from the romantic leads and prevent him becoming type-cast.

 

Darius has already played Fagin in an amateur production of the Lionel Bart musical, so it wouldn't be a new challenge for him.

 

I dare say he would play it very differently now than he did as a teenager. I have to say that the photograph of him in the role looked more like Fu Manchu to me than Fagin.

I saw Oliver and have to say it was brilliant as expected. The standard of singing and acting was exceptional. Even the local critics said the guy who played Fagin was the best they had ever seen including the westend and I have to agree. The other main parts were also very strongly sung and acted Nancy in particular outsung the ones I saw in the tv show for the part but the twenty children were so on the ball with some great chorus work. Apparently it has broken all records for this society who are nothing short of professional.We are very lucky to have such a professional society several of whom have gone on to the westend. My next outing is something different - a night of gilbert and sullivan with ex members of Doyley Carte. I love gilbert and sullivan.

I like Oliver.

 

I could actually see Darius playing Sykes....but it's only a small part so it's not worth it

After all the excitement of GWTW, I feel I'm in the doldrums now.

On Strictly Come Dancing one couple danced to Razzle Dazzle.....brought back memories.

I didn't watch - I can't believe how good a dancer Darius became though.

Yes, I do wish he'd give more notice of what he's doing.

I'd like time like 2005 again. That was lovely.

Yes that was good. I didn't get to everything but I could have if I hadn't had other commitments.

I went to as many as I could - and loved most of them.

I wish I'd gone to more

We all do that. Don't go to one and then wish like mad that we had.

I wish I'd gone to more Dive In concerts as well. Not that I had any money back then nor the same freedom that I have now because the kids were younger.

I wish I had. I REALLY wish I had.

We all know we're limited by geography and money but the point is, that some of D's fans who desperately want to see him live singing their favourites from his own songs, are denied that opprtunity over and over because any forewarning that there is comes far too late.

 

I agree that it would be good if we had more notice of what Darius was doing but we were talking about gigs etc we could have gone to in the past but didn't and now regret.
