I’ve been looking at list of the “hottest” country songs in the last 50 years by Billboard magazine, and Shania Twain’s “You’re Still the One” is already at No. 3, even though it’s only 10 years old. However, if she wants to claim the top spot someday, she’s got her work cut out for her. Johnny Horton’s “The Battle of New Orleans,” the enduring smash hit from 1959, is No. 1. (Funny, I never thought I’d write “hottest” and “Johnny Horton” in the same story.) Kenny Rogers‘ “Lady” is No. 2. Great. Now I’ll have that song in my head all day: “Let me hold you in my arms fa-ah-ah evermore.
