yes, I saw it - Nigel H doesnt do it for me at all I am afraid, my they are building him up as a sex symbol though.

there was something in the tv mag too, as usual no mentioin of Darius amongst the guest appearances..whihc menat hubby doesnt beleive me that D is in it.

Nope, Nigel doesn't do it for me either.

He's not a bad actor although he tends to play the rough diamond a lot. From what I saw on youtube his Sky was quite good but more like Nathan. For me, his interpretation lacked the smoothness and classiness of the professional high roller that Sky is supposed to be. The only time I remember being impressed by Nigel was when he was in Larkrise to Candleford. That action TV drama thriller/spy type thing he did was not very good at all.

It will be interesting to see brings anything new to this role or reinterprets his Eastender role yet again.

Mmmmmm well Nigel certainly does it for me !........but not as much as Darius does of course   ! .......Cant wait for July 26th.......Double pleasure!!

The review for Hotel Babylon in The Sunday Times Culture Magazine isn't very good.

"Ratings for the series have fallen since Tamzin Outhwaite and Max Beesley's departures, and another run is unlikely unless they improve significantly. Hence, presumably, the desperation detectable in a season opener that is prepared to try anything in the hope of grabbing viewers' attention: a terror alert, fantasy sequences, Bollywood dancing, flimsily justified by the upcoming nuptials of an Indian tycoon's daughter, and even Abi Titmuss as a nun."

Goes on to talk about the new signings Anna-Wilson Jones and Nigel Harman and finishes with "Whether they can save Hotel Babylon the drama from closure is more doubtful however." Not a promising start. No mention of Darius or the other guests. Sue

Yes, that show with the Bollywood dream sequence sounds something else. It sounds like far too much crammed into an opening episode.

I think people will watch the first few programmes to see if the feud between the characters of Nigel and Anna-Wilson Jones will be more fun than your average squabbling couples in soaps. Will they have the chemistry of e.g. JR and Sue Ellen, Dirty Den and Angie? If the scripts and their relationship don't cut it, the series won't get anywhere near the previous ratings. Even if the scripts are fantastic in the later shows, people won't tune in. Like soaps, the HB programmes have different writers and directors.

Isn't Nigel H being interviewed on one of the daytime shows this week, Loose Women or This Morning I think? Sue
He was on The 1 Show yesturday, but i only caught him as he was finishing! :(

Nigel H was on This Morning today. He discussed his role etc and mentioned some of the people who were doing guest appearances. True to form, Darius was the last person he mentioned  , although he did say that he hadn't had scenes with everybody so that was why he was struggling to remember some names!! Sue
Well at least he got a mention. True to form the only one the media seedm to remember is Abi titmus, wonder why.

Oh goodness what a mish-mash that first episode was. Far too much jumping between too many storylines.

Was it a "how many sitcom cliches can we work into one script" competition ?

OUR ONLY HOPE !!!!!!!!!

Caricature characters, O.T.T. acting, totally unbelievable storylines, cheesy, cringeworthy lines,

poor camera work.............Big Brother (clashing programme) seems unmissable in comparison!

And no, I don't watch B.B.

I think the clue might be in her name.

Seriously, what was the point of having a nun in last night's show - was it just to differentiate her from the other beautiful people milling around?

I can't say I saw any of the fiery clashes promised between Sam and Juliet in last night's show. It reminded me more of those Whitehall farces Brian Rix used to do. Actually the whole of that particular show did.

The HB episodes I've seen in the past were much slicker and much more fun. I don't remember the staff's characters being so nearly charicatures back then.

Well me and Bri loved last nights show,it was hilarious  !.........and of course i was enjo ying Nigel Harman very much too! ;)

I taped and watched it when nothing else I wanted was on or I may have changed channels.

It was ok.

Some things you just had to take with a pinch of salt and dismiss.

It certainly cannot be taken seriously

I didn't feel like turning it off and it finished with me wanting to know how they are going to manage the hotel, so I'll watch again.
