September 23, 200816 yr Im still waiting for some media somewhere including the DR to report D is to star in hotel babylon. There are reports about everybody else mostly people like jennifer ellison etc etc yet again no mention of D.
September 23, 200816 yr I've seen that Mirror(?)story about how Kelly O had her own trailer etc. to learn her lines. There's a huge fuss every time she does the slightest thing. Whereas, if they sent Darius a script, he'd know his lines and cues and have some ideas how he might play it before he set foot on the set.
September 23, 200816 yr Author That's because he's talentted. They're not taking a risk in casting him.
October 9, 200816 yr Just realised the post I entered on the Darius News thread should probably have been on here, so am repeating it. Brought over from Rachel's site re Hotel Babylon....... Some more news on this - Darius is cast as Genarro Fazio, an italian magazine editor, a fun role but one which explores the dark side of celebrity culture
October 9, 200816 yr Author It's dreadful but, that doesn't make me look forward to it any more than I was before.
October 10, 200816 yr mm, hope its not too hammy a role..the name doesnt give me confidence, but I am sure Darius will be great..may have a ring of Billy in it. I must say I watched a very old black and white John Wayne film the other day, sadly only due to the fact as he appeared..wearing a top hat and garb much like darius did in GWTW he had the same impressive air about him, and the same eyebrow and facial expressions, ..I had never seen John Wayne in a film in his early years, and found myself thinking his carriage and demeanure made me think of Darius, pure class. what a shame films arent what they used to be..I could see Darius in such a part
October 10, 200816 yr Author Tall and good looking don't really go down well now. Start in a talent show and you have to climb the 100 ft wall with no hand grips.
October 10, 200816 yr I'm so glad that Darius has a character role in this - that he's going into it as an actor rather than doing a cameo role as himself. The part sounds like it could be great if Darius was allowed to play it straight while delivering punchy comic lines. However, at the back of my mind, I dread that the director will push the parody too far in a really clicheed way. Perhaps there will be a tiny snippet in a trailer later, which will give us some indication. Edited October 10, 200816 yr by Baytree
October 10, 200816 yr Author I'll be on edge until it's out. At least not expecting to like it I can't be disappointed.
October 11, 200816 yr One of the broadsheets cant remember which maybe the times had a long article on moustaches. They raved just about everyone including clark gable but no D. still waiting to read a write up about eli stone. There was an interview with johnny lee miller and saying george michael was making his acting debut but no mention of natasha, strange. Perhaps they thought they would have to mention she was Ds girlfriend.
October 11, 200816 yr Well I wasn't too impressed with most of the other celebrity moustaches which Sky.com featured at the time Darius was just trying out a moustache - when he was presenting the award at the Oliviers. Most of them didn't suit the tashes at all. Darius looked pretty good and he looked even better, when he'd left the necessary gap in the tash. Perhaps the people featured in the broadsheet normally have moustaches. Darius only grew his for one role so far. I should think most publicity for Eli Stone will centre on Johnny Lee because he's the title character, and George Michael because he's integral to the storyline as one of Eli's visions and also the title and the lyrics of one song of his each week are a clue to the case featured. That's why each episode is named after a song. At the moment Natasha is just Eli's fiancee. Later she actually joins the firm and opposes Eli in court.
October 11, 200816 yr Author I'm looking forward to next weeks episode. I doubt I'll be able to talk Dave into editing the ads out before I watch it though.
October 11, 200816 yr They were definitely an impediment to my enjoying the programme. Shame I don't have the technical means to edit them out, other than manually, by using the pause button when recording.
October 11, 200816 yr Author Dave's not keen on being an editing tool again. I keep telling him he'd gain all those brownie points but he still isn't obliging.
October 14, 200816 yr I fear Classic FM may have been just a teensy bit too much of a stretch of patience.
October 14, 200816 yr Author At least we knew they DID have an add. Without Dave, we'd never have known. Heart ran one too - but very, very infrequently.
October 14, 200816 yr I saw the Daily Mail (I think) page of moustachios....funnily enough, as I turned the page and saw them, for a brief moment I thought it was D.....it was Clark Gable. There is a strong resemblance when they each had moustaches.
