Posted September 18, 200816 yr LOS ANGELES – Brad Pitt has donated $100,000 to fight California's November ballot initiative that would overturn the state Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage. It's the first time voters will be asked to ban same-sex marriage in a state where gay couples already have won the right to wed. Same-sex marriage is legal in Massachusetts and California. It's the first time voters will be asked to decide the issue in either California or Massachusetts — the states where gays have won the right to wed. "Because no one has the right to deny another their life, even though they disagree with it, because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire if it doesn't harm another and because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality and against Proposition 8," Pitt said Wednesday. Trevor Neilson, Pitt's political and philanthropic adviser, told The Associated Press that Pitt was surprised that his colleagues in the entertainment industry had not donated more money to support the battle against Proposition 8. Pitt has also denied himself the right to marry Angelina Jolie until gay marriage is legal. “Angie and I will consider tying the knot when everyone else in the country who wants to be married is legally able.” Earlier in the week, Pitt and Angelina Jolie announced they donated $2 million to help fight HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis in Ethiopia. September 19, 200816 yr sounds like hes a decent guy... personally i dont know much about your laws, him supporting gay marriage is a bold step, good luck to him!
September 19, 200816 yr seems old Angelina's having a good effect on Bradders I just wish he'd donate himself to the cause, myself :P As for this ruling in California - how dare they - the battle was a long and hard one - why on earth should the far right now have the chance to wipe away this law? Bloody Republicans.... I was chatting to a friend of mine in Hawaii last night - he said him and his partner were definitely leaving the States if McCain gets voted in - and he said there are many others feeling the same. Can't say I blame them one bit, McCain and Palin are an absolute disaster waiting to happen - and the last thing America needs is yet another leader who's despised the world over......

Bloody Republicans.... To be fair, the Republicans in California (and New York) are far more liberal than the fruit-loops in places like Texas. In fact, the Californian legislature that allowed gay marriage in the first place is actually Republican... Anyway, this is really decent of Brad Pitt.
September 21, 200816 yr Pitt's close friends with Melissa Etheridge and was once voted Sexiest Woman On Earth(!) by a lesbian magazine.

Maybe 5 out of the 50 states are actually like this.
