I thought I'd start a topic in preparation for the new M.I.A. album currently in the works. She's laying down tracks RIGHT NOW for it. Details known thus far:

 

• It's going to be less 'club' in feel

• She'd love to write songs in the style of old Blur songs

• She's working with long time collaborators Switch and Diplo on it

• She describes some of the tracks she's working on for the new album as 'sophisticated, mature and grown-into-a-woman' type songs

• Working title of one of the tracks she's currently creating is 'Live In Love In Pain'

• Summer 2009 is the working date for the new album's release

 

So I'd expect another idiosyncratically M.I.A. album but perhaps maybe a bit slower and more wise. Yay.

She has a f***ing tough job pulling off something better than "Kala" though. But I thought that about Arular and she did it so...

I hope "less club style" doesn't mean songs like Mango Pickle.

 

Very excited though. I hope she still has some big beats on her album. Bamboo Banga is just amazing.

 

I also read a while ago that she's gonna be very secretive about this album so that Nelly Furtado and Fergie donºt nick her style again :lol:
