Danish trio Our Broken Garden have taken up residency in my car stereo with their frankly astonishing debut album 'When Your Blackening Shows', which is a beautiful collection of laid-back, sexy, dark and mesmerising tracks including 2 from the bands' 'Lost Sailor' EP a few months ago... this is music to love.... absolutely fantastic - anyone that loves Bjork, Portishead, Zero 7, Air, late-Cardigans, and some of the darker tracks on Goldfrapp's 'Felt Mountain' and 'Seventh Tree'..... it's definitely a hot contender for my album of the year - stunning stuff.

Here's snippets of 2 online reviews...

"WHEN YOUR BLACKENING SHOWS is a touching, thoughtful, slice of melancholia very much of the ilk of fellow miserabilists PORTISHEAD, with moments of grand MONOesque beauty.

The music is sparse enough so you can see straight through its arrangement, often nothing but tap tap drums and sublime orchestral organ, with vocals that shake your nerves and bring your insecurities as a man flowing full-pelt to the surface.

It’s a lush little slice of Scandinavian alt-pop and no mistake… imagine if Bjork went mainstream and slightly teary and you wouldn’t be a million miles away. Cracking then…"

"Like a half-remembered dream, delicate melodies drift by in a haze of strings, chimes and electronic effects courtesy of a Hammond organ, the sparse soundscape conveying an overwhelming sense of the isolation it was conceived in. The effect is by turns poignant and profoundly unsettling - especially in the standout title track, which, as its name might suggest, is the darkest of this melancholic collection."

The stunning title track and 2 other album tracks can be heard on the bands' MySpace page... http://www.myspace.com/ourbrokengarden

I downloaded her EP a while back but found it a little too boring for my liking... Is the album better than it?

the album's much the same... if you weren't keen on the EP, you definitely won't like the album ;)
