"ASPECTS" of course with MICHAEL BALL. Michael had already gave us the single "Love Changes Everything", at the start of `89. JANET JACKSON gave us a whole series based around RHYTHM NATION, as well as a tour. TINA TURNER was back with a bang, and this included the award winning single "Simply The Best". JASON DONOVAN, RICHARD MARX, and TECHNOTRONIC all peaked at 2 behind them. Suddenly DAMIAN gave us his rendition of "TIMEWARP", from "the Rocky Horror Picture Show"...Quite frightening on it`s own, even more so when NICHOLAS PARSONS took part in a version! :teresa: LONDON BOYS had a third top tenner, quite forgot that one. WONDER STUFF were great stuff, and AEROSMITH got their first big uk hit. KATE BUSH was still doing ok..Will we ever see her in the top 20 singles again? Down at the still popular Aci-eeed House, we had STARLIGHT, LIL LOUIS, and S`EXPRESS..not too mention a re-worked 1968 motown flop "I Can`t Dance To That Music You`re Playing". We got rocking with GUNS N ROSES, POISON, ALICE COOPER, and W.A.S.P. So, what did W.A.S.P. stand for...Well it`s a family thread, so ask someone else! Also, in 1989 keen listeners to the Network Chart, with David Jensen...actually this week it was Pat Sharp, but David gave us such introductions as: "Room In Your Haarrt", and remember the correct pronounciation of Gloria Estefan? It`s actually GLORIA ESTEF - UN. (The vintage charts were compiled by MRIB MEDIA RESEARCH INFORMATION BUREAU, for ILR 1989, the film charts were compiled by Screen International for UK Box Office, the tv compiled by BARB, and the top dvds compiled by DTR). I will come back soon with the up to the minute singles...
September 26, 200816 yr Ride On Time and Pump Up The Jam brings memories back that was the best year for #1 singles. Ride On Time and Back 2 Life are my favourite #1s from that year.
September 26, 200816 yr Thanks for the info Dave. It was quite an interesting read. I'm a bit surprised Katy Perry didn't manage to get top 10 with her album after such a big hit single  btw what happened with the weekly Monday preview of the singles? Is it just me who missed it or you just stopped doing it?

September 26, 200816 yr Author Thanks for the info Dave. It was quite an interesting read. I'm a bit surprised Katy Perry didn't manage to get top 10 with her album after such a big hit single  btw what happened with the weekly Monday preview of the singles? Is it just me who missed it or you just stopped doing it? I`m not around much on Mondays, and it was my pal Trevs, who started to put it up. As he hasn`t been well of late, a few weeks have been missed. I`m sure when he get`s better, it will return. When that will be is open to question, as he has been very poorly since mid-August. We do lodge in the same house, so Computer access is shared. If I am around I will stick it on on Monday. Quite amazingly I didn`t actually think it was that popular. Only getting about a hundred or so, views. Although it can be pretty good as a preview.
September 26, 200816 yr Author That's great for KoL! And who the hell are Fins? They must be quite big if their pre-order is #6  Released on 6th October. The single is "Adaptor". Check it out. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=H3DTkG2YBM4
September 26, 200816 yr :o Surprised Will only shifted 7k - that'll probably be less than 10k by Sunday's Chart :o I thought he'd shift 15k at least.
September 26, 200816 yr Released on 6th October. The single is "Adaptor". Check it out. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=H3DTkG2YBM4 Thanks for that Just listened to it and sounds pretty good - the kind of thing I really like :o
September 26, 200816 yr I've spotted the hilarious typo error of the #26 track (which those of us who produce these type of threads know we can easily do). I could just imagine how terrible Seven Nation Army would sound if performed by him.

September 26, 200816 yr Your 'Almost Saturday' info. is always very interesting Dave. Last Week, 'Greatest Hits' (One), & 'Greatest Hits II', by Queen, were at No.31 & No.67 respectively, in The OCC Chart. Are either, anywhere in your latest 'Almost Saturday' Chart? 'More Gold', by ABBA was at No.63 in the latest OCC Chart. Is it anywhere in your 'Almost Saturday' Chart? 'Mamma Mia!' is now the 4th Biggest Grossing Film ever in the UK, with £61,653,876 taken at the Box office - to W/E 21st September. So far, it has done this in the Weekly UK Top 10 Box Office Chart:, 1 - 1 - 2 - 2 - 3 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 The Film has caused 'Gold', by ABBA, to sell a further 300,000+ in the UK, in 2008. 'Music Week' said, (Page 17/W/E 20th September Issue), that it is now the 3rd All Time UK Best Selling Album, but it is still a few thousand copies behind '(What's The Story) Morning Glory?', by Oasis. To Midnight on Saturday 20th September, the ABBA Album had sold 4,357,071 copies. The Oasis Album is on 4,372,672 to 4,375,672 Sales - depending on whether it has sold 6,000 or 8,400 copies in the last 6 Weeks. This puts it 15,601 to 18,001 Sales ahead of the ABBA Album. Although 'Gold' should overtake it during the next 3 or 4 Weeks.
September 26, 200816 yr Thanks for this Dave, i corrected the error for you which ThisIsPop referred to. Excellent work as always.
