The energised pop bunny landed her first US No 1 with new single So What last week, but the general public still aren’t convinced. Pink told me: “No one could believe I was No 1. They still think I’m a psycho back home. “I just laugh and don’t pay attention. I guess I’m pretty much all over the place, a great big mystery bag, but that’s my style and it’s reflected in my music.” The newly-single singer, who split from hubby Carey Hart, 33, in February, reckons switching from R&B to rock in the early stages of her career confused American folk. Split Pink, 29, admitted: “I’m pretty in your face and that can work against me. People still don’t get me. “But I’m a regular person, I have a garden I like to relax in when I’m not working, I read books – it’s not all parties.” Pink enjoys performing in Europe because fans here keep her on her toes. She said: “I don’t take anything for granted over here and enjoy feeling like the underdog. “Then things like Shirley Bassey covering Get The Party Started happen and it makes everything worthwhile.” Pink’s next ambition is to learn French. She admitted: “I was listening to a lot of French music, old singers like Edith Piaf. It was inspiring. “So I’m taking French classes and I’ve given myself the target of being fluent by the time I’m 35.” New single So What was written about her marriage break-up, although Pink is still mates with her ex. She added: “We’re still close and he’s such a good sport. He even appeared in my latest video. “I love love, I’m never giving up on it.” So What is out now.
