October 2, 200816 yr I really like this song....quite a bit, and from just one listen....seems to me, and I could be wrong, I thought I heard hints of Orinoco Flow in the beat, and in the strings, hints of Silver Inches.... I'd like to add this weird thought....maybe the entire album includes 'the echoes of time'....
October 2, 200816 yr I dont think echoes of time will be in the album we already saw the tracklist. After hearing 118943241361 times this song,I can now really give a review of it. I think the song loses some emotion, strenght and melody when she pass to the chorus, because the first part and the verses are stunning, amazing, powerful and very melodic and it capts the emotion and the feeling of the song more than the chorus, unfortunately those parts are small, just once the beginning and twice the verses. October 3, 200816 yr Ok, my honest opinion. To begin with I thought it was amazing. Now it unfulfills me. :( It doesn't grab me at all, and if the rest of the songs on 'And Winter Came' are like this then I'll be severely disappointed. I am currently loving Katy Perry's 'Hot n Cold' and 'Womanizer' by Britney Spears so I can't see Enya getting to #1 on my chart which is a real shame. But I really don't think it warrants it as it really isn't that strong a song. I hope the album has some gems on it.
October 3, 200816 yr Yes I feel the same David. But the first single off an Enya album is never my favourite track. I loathed Amarantine but the album contained the two masterpieces of Sumerigusa and Water shows the hidden heart so I'm staying optimistic about the new album.
October 3, 200816 yr Author :o David! I am surprised. TAWR was an instant hit with me. I've listened to it almost 200 times now and I still love it as much as I have. Comparing it to Amarantine, I didn't like Amarantine when I first heard it. I love everything about TAWR, the first minute is my absolute favorite of the whole song. I think the song is strong as a whole, good choice for a single, and quite commercial, more so than Amarantine. I love the dark and light tones in the song, I love the rhythmic train type beat..I hope the rest of the album is just as good, which I have no doubt. ^_^ I think TAWR is this: TMOTN + May It Be + elements of The Echoes of Time = Trains and Winter Rains 10/10 from me, no question.
October 4, 200816 yr It's a real shame I'm not that keen, but it'll no doubt grow on me some more anyway. It hasn't been playlisted on Radio 2 [yet] btw, and I seem to recall Amarantine getting put on the B-list straight away.
October 4, 200816 yr Hmm after listening a few more times today, I have to say it's growing on me more. ^_^ It's at #4 in my chart this week, but I reckon it could well climb to the summit next week or the week after. :D Especially after I've seen the video.
October 4, 200816 yr I just find chorus grates on me like 'Someone said goodbye' always grated on me.
October 4, 200816 yr Author That's interesting..SSG is one of my favorite songs from Amarantine.. David, how do you determine your chart of songs?
October 5, 200816 yr Just really on what I prefer when I come to compile it! You can see the whole thing in the personal charts forum. I really love 'Hot n Cold' though atm.
October 5, 200816 yr Author I don't like very many Katy Perry songs. My favorite one is Cup of Coffee, which is sadly not an album track.
October 5, 200816 yr Hmm don't think I've heard that one. :o In fact I don't think I've heard any songs other than her singles and Self Inflicted.
October 6, 200816 yr Hmm this song is definately a grower. ^_^ I don't think I gave it enough time to begin with as I've been pretty much only listening to dance sorts of songs just lately what with just starting uni, but I definately think Trains and Winter Rains is a stronger lead single to Amarantine. ^_^
October 6, 200816 yr Oh I definitely agree it's a stronger lead single than Amarantine. But that's not saying much lol.
