I thought most cruises move from port to port, for passengers to explore a different place each time.

Too short a time for me. I prefer to spend longer in one place, to explore it in depth.

Boat might be ok but space shuttle - no way
Funny, some people would give anything to go into space. Not me. The desire for adventure must be very strong, for people

to leave all their loved ones for so many months, including training. Or maybe it's the quest for glory.

Can't be that - how much publicity is given to individual astro/cosmonauts now that space travel has become almost commonplace? If I'm asked to name an astronaut I'd probably run out after a couple of Russians and half a dozen Americans and all of those from the Space Race.

You do see it in the news that a civilian has paid a fortune to go into space. I'd spend my money on something different - not that I have much now that i have my new printer.

I meant a quest for glory amongst the people he/she knows.

I wouldn't want to go, but I must confess to being envious of the views of earth they would see. If I did go it would be

just my luck to not see tha earth for clouds.

The river had turned into molean gold and silver this afternoon - absolutely beautiful.
Not cold enough to do my coat up but cold enough to have it on in case. Another beautiful day.
I think I ought to persuade Hubby to move south!
It's one of the reasons I didn't move back to the North - but I'll always be a northerner.

I have been sitting today down by the sea looking across Torbay with the most wonderful view on a beautiful day. Even a little tea hut was open and has been right through the summer and november and is still open and doing a roaring trade with people who just want to stroll in the sunshine and admire the view. That is one thing this area has beautiful scenery and I count myself lucky. It has been unusual to sit outside in December like this for a long period but it was lovely an d the grandchildren skated up and down the promenade on their scooters and loved it as we watched a huge white balloon carrying people go up and down above Torquay like something from the Prisoner tv series. Bet the owners didnt expect to be still doing trips in December. A bonus for them.

That sounds wonderful, Preston. Here there is a complete whiteover yet again, with thick frost coating everything.

Looks great, looking through the window, but outside.......brrrh !

it's yet another day that my Mum can't get out because of the ice. It's absolutely beautiful here.

My dog had another epilepctic fit last night. he ripped the bedroom apart - just in panic, once he was able to move from where he had the fit. He didn't stop breathing this time. It started just after midnight and it was about 5am before i could calm him down enough to go to bed. Some Xmas presents have been broken as he just panicked. Unfortunately, he hasn't got complete use of his legs back yet so is banging into everything. I didn't take him to the vets as last time they said all they could do was give him time to calm down. We could do that here without the extra trauma to him of being carried to the car and taken away - which he hates.

I'm hoping he gets better quickly . I have him downstaits now, laying on the settee with his favorite blanket.

So sorry Meg. That sounded dreadful. Does he have attacks very often? I think it always seems worse when things happen during the night. I hope he's recovering by now. You're right about the vet . Our cat gets into a state when ever she sees her travel box because she links it with the vets. Sue
This is his second. He's still walking around crying but at least he can walk now.

Maybe you'll have to keep Dane inside for a few days, till it gets warmer, even though he will miss his walks. I hope he

soon regains his confidence.........last time he didn't want to be left, did he.

Have you to replace pressies now ?

Poor Dane. Very scary and worrying both for him and you. Hope he is calmer now
