He's had another one. Not good. He's a very unhappy dog - it'll be the vets tomorrow. It's a shame but the tablets make them see to be less than they are and don't always seem to stop the fits. It may not happen again but I'll have to have a vet see him.

I'll replace the presents whemn I come back from mum's. he only damaged the ones he was giving.

Poor Dane, and poor you. Hope he settles now, it's upsetting for both of you.

He's back on his feet and both his eyes are open - well were open as he's now sound asleep, which is the best thing for him.
Let's hope the vet can suggest something more effective this time.
I was offered a MRI scan for £2000. I haven't taken up the opffer. When i refused the vet has given him medication which 90% of dogs who have the scan end up on. That cost £150 but it'll be for his life and we'll have to buy it each month.

Sorry to hear about Dane.

I've got a few moments to myself just now. My sister and her husband are collecting my niece from the airport and I'm waiting for the plumber .............again!

I'm getting through OK but of course am tearful when small things recall happy memories. It may seem callous to say so, but I'll be glad when the funeral is over. Then we'll take every day as it comes.

That's all you can do BT, take each day at a time. I think most people are relieved to get the funeral over.

Meg, I hope the new medicine works and controls the fits, but how expensive! Sue

Sorry to hear your sad news BT. Focus on the happy memories and remember with love.
I'm so sorry, BT. It is such a painful time. Try to remember the good times.

Oops, Meg, £150 every month !! I wonder how much of that is the vet's cut. Look around and see if you can find a less

expensive supply, now you know what the medication is.

Bt, it's always better when the funeral is over. You can then start coming to terms with things. Bramley, I like how this vet is with Dane. After i left he phoned round his aquaintances to try and find me a cheaper scan - which he has. He suggests we wait a while to see how the medication works first though.
You seem to have found a genuine guy there, Meg. Few and far between! I hope the medication works for Dane.

My thoughts are with you BT.

Waiting for a funeral is like being in limbo and after a sudden death you are suffering shock as well.

When my dad died, he was on holiday, I was in like a 'fog' till after the funeral.

Meg give Dane a big hug from me.......£150 per month....wow!!

My cousin in Florida has a dog which has fits......she gets repeat perscriptions free at one of the chemists....not sure how it works but wish we had that here!

The trouble is, Dane's not insured. Battersea said he's be dead between 2 abd 5 and had so much wrong with him, he'd be uninsurable. On the plus side, he hasn't been to the vets for 9 years. It's just one of those things. He's hyper now but it hasn't gone into a fit.
Pets are part of the family and if you can afford it, you'll spend the money to give them a good quality of life. Sue
But I wont spend the money just to keep him alive - I need him alive with a good chance of a decent quality of life, Otherwise, it'd be for me not him.

How long did the vet say the tablets would need to give some effect?

Does the dose need to be increase or is he just on a set dose from the start?

They could increase the dose. It is really hard having a dog following you around crying when he's never done that before - still, no actual fits.
Are you taking Dane with you to your Mum's ?
