It has been snowing really hard here all afternoon. So much for a weather forecast that said the rain would clear and the afternoon would be fine! Sue

We've had a light fall and it seems to be lying this time.

Serves me right. At some point yesterday I started thinking about snowmen for some weird reason. I also seem to recall breaking into a little Trini Lopez style "If I had a Snowman" ditty.

I must've been temporarily insane at the time or bored out of my mind or both at the same time.

We've had rain on and off all day.....just got back in now and it was trying to snow.

The snow's gone and the street's are black again. I do hope it's not black ice rather than rain. Anyway I've still got enough de-icing salt for the path.

If it's black ice, I certainly won't be venturing out in my car this time.

I got drenched in the torrential rain yesterday morning.
The snow hasn't melted here after snowing again last night. Son went out with his friend last night, in his friend's car, and they ended up on the island in the middle of a roundabout after skidding! Luckily only the car was damaged. It was the same old story though, the roads hadn't been gritted and were lethal. The council always seems to have an excuse. Sue

I'm so glad your son and his friend are OK. It must've been an awful shock for them.

Our council only religiously grits the bus routes and main streets in each district. The side roads can be very bad.

I've been watching North and South on the Zone Romantica channel. The young Patrick Swayze in a American Civil War drama series. I'm really enjoying it. All those Southern accents and the costumes remind me of GWTW the musical.

I'd vaguely remembered seeing it a long time ago. Thank goodness for repeats. I can flick through loads of channels and still find zilch to watch.

I'm hoping I might see Roots repeated some time too.

Gosh Sue they were lucky....or should that be unlucky....glad they're ok

Hope he has insurance to cover the damage 'cos I'm sure the council wont be aiding him :(

I'm driving down to Reading Uni with my son in the morning.....the bbc weather shows it will be alright....lets hope they are right

Omg i'm glad that your Son and his mate are 0k Sue (hug),its disgusting that the council dont grit the roads properly, they could've been seriously hurt!

Hope you had a safe journey Pam

Well that was a lot longer than I expected.

I was up at 4:30, it took us till 11am to get there due to traffic....should have been 10.

Good job he didn't need an interview after all due to his expected grades.

We waited till 11:40 before the tutor arrived, he quickly showed us the studios and computer room then dashed off to teach.

We ate dinner then went back to reception for the 13:30 appointment.......however there wasn't one :o

they had emailed Neil to say they had sent the wrong letter and there was just a morning showing...which we had already had!

We did manage to get someone to show us the accommodation and then set off home just before 3pm

The traffic was terrible so by the time we'd reach Stafford services I was so tired I had to have a sleep.

Neil left me 45mins and it seemed like a flash....I must have been so tired.

Anyway it did the trick and the rest of the way home was fine.....took till almost 9pm to get here though

Although it was a quick look round he was impressed with what he saw and had his questions answered so it was worth the trip :)

Sorry it took you so long to get there Pam but glad you saw what you wanted and that he liked it.
Gosh Pam that was a day and a half! Pity they couldn't have emailed you earlier. Glad Neil was pleased with what he did see so it wasn't all in vain. Sue

I can believe they only arranged 2 hours for such a journey.

Leeds next week......not as far thank goodness :)

I'm glad you got to see the accommodation too.

Whenever my son went to new places, he'd send photos etc. but I was only really content when I'd actually been there. I think maybe I need to feel the vibes.

I've managed to lose my mobile phone = and all the numbers on it. It was in my b ag at the services and not when I got back to mum's.

i've b een nagging Mum to get a pc but I'll stop know as the connection is just so slow. Nina's laptop works reallhy well in London but I think the pennines get in the way here. I can't see a pc working very wel,l unless we had a cable link or something.

Sorry about you phone Meg. It's really annoying when that happens. You're right, the Pennines can affect reception depending which area you're in. Sue
I found my phone. I think it's alive and had crawled into a little soace you couldn't see in and it was never near. Perhaps it wanted to stay at home. My brother goes back to canada tomorrow morning.
