Glad you found your phone Meg

I'm just getting over a bad eye infection. Had to dim the screen right down to be able to look at the board at all

It's funny how inanimate objects can frustrate us so much.

What a shame your brother has to go back so soon.

I had a nightmare last night....first in years

...to do with water rising, buildings collapsing and mud slides......not very nice as my children were the age they are now and all in the building....there were also lots of others

on the positive side we've been to Leeds college of music and Neil had a good interview and feels very happy

Sorry about your nightmare Pam, not very pleasant and even worse because your children were in the building. Glad Neil had a good interview. I had a nightmare too, not as awful as yours but about a bus jackknifing, flipping into the air, narrowly missing me as it landed. The poor driver ended up on the floor covered in blood and I couldn't open my bag to get my phone and dial 99
It took my son and his girlfriend eight hours to get home from Edinburgh yesterday!! They left Edinburgh at mid day. The train was late so they missed their connection at York. The next train was running late so they missed their next connection at Blackburn and arrived in Bolton at ten to eight and this was before the snow arrived! How they can expect people to use public transport and provide a service like that I don't know. Sue

I've learned never to count on timetables when travelling from Scotland to London and always leave a lengthy time cushion, especially if I've to catch a flight.

I've been lucky travelling to London on trains.....only once were we delayed and I've got vouchers for another journey :)

Have they complained?

I was travelling Virgin and I think their policy is anything over 2 hours late gets part or whole refund.

Aria nearly missed a family gathering once because of train delays. He arrived about an hour from the end.

IMHO the trains aren't the worst culprits. I think budget airlines are much worse because they have such tight turnaround times.

London must have been really weird today with no buses, some of the tube lines closed and fewer commuters being able to get there.

Thanks Pam. I don't know if they have complained, but I'll pass that on. Sue

I moan but I rarely make any official complaints. I think most Brits are like me, despite all the "compensation" ads.

Maybe we'd get better services if more of us moaned to the right people instead of friends and family. Next time, I'll make the effort.

I watched some of the Scottish Executive's second Budget debate today. It's hilarious to see all the parties, except the Green Party, agreeing, but their spokesmen still trying to score party points and take swipes at the UK government.

We were handed complaint forms as we got off the train.

I wouldn't have even bothered as I didn't have to be there for any special time and it was a problem with signals not their fault.

I was cross when I got to the underground and found the ticket they gave me was just the train ticket from waterloo to Megs and not an underground as well.

I did say at the time it should cost more and were they sure, in fact I checked twice

Anyway I sent the form off and got a refund so I'm very happy......must just remember to use it

I'd probably have carried the form around in my handbag until it was a screwed up floppy ball of paper, almost totally unrecognisable.

It's only when my bag gets ridiculously heavy that I dredge out the mass of heavy paper debris at the bottom.

My cousin died today. He'd reached his 50s so it was a usual age to die in our family. He'd been unwell for 21 years. hadn't put a seat belt on, crashed the car and broke his back. The whole thing was an unneccesary waste of his life.
Sorry to hear that Meg, yes a waste of a life.
Really sorry Meg that you've had some more sad news. You and your family are having a bad time of it at the moment. Sue
Did anyone see Bette Midler singing From a Distance yesterday on Dancing On Ice? I enjoyed it, but I much preferred Darius's version ( yes I know I'm biased! ;) ) I've just been over to Rachel's site to listen again and his voice is so deep and rich. Sue
