I have just re-watched Out of Africa with meryl streep and robert redford. What wonderful music it had, what a great composer John Barry is. I know he won the oscar for the music, in fact I think the film won a large number of oscars including best photography also wonderful. Would love to see D do some film music.

Sue, your bay tree (Laurus Nobilis) will prefer full sun, though it will also grow in partial shade. It needs a sheltered spot as it is

susceptible to frost damage. Remove any frost-damaged stems and leaves in spring. In spring it has yellow flowers and if it

is a female plant these are followed by black berries. It will grow into a large tree if you don't prune it in summer (not till it's

established).

I keep thinking about drying the leaves instead of just picking them when I want to use them.
Thanks for the information about the bay tree. Will have to have a re think about it's position. Sue
Mum grows agapanthers in a clay soil which spends half it's time underwater and is in the north west. They flower successfully each year even though the conditions just aren't what are required for them. Her flowers are about 6 wks later than ours ans smaller but equally beautiful.

I grow a water plant, a type of yellow mimulus, in a mini pond in a bowl. It has rooted itself in the surrounding area, very dry

soil, where it spreads exuberently and flowers profusely !!!

We had our mint in containers to stop them spreading. The cats thought they were marvellous to sleep on. The mint dies, the cats thrived. Now we only have apple mint which escaped the containers.
On the Just Natasha site there are photos of her house-hunting in Santa Monica. No sign of D though.

It sounds like ours. We've had no tumble drier for 2yrs, the freezed only has half of the doors intact and the cooker's oven doesn't work - oh, and our water is leaking in the kitchen but we can't find out where and the plumber hasn't been of much help.
