October 13, 200816 yr its not a sinstant as shine of patience but neither was rule thw world the first times i heard it and i think this could be the same
October 13, 200816 yr I thought i'd come and give my analysis for Norma... I really like it. Is very safe, but the don't really need to not play it safe, do they? I've only heard it the once and I like what I hear (although I need to hear a HQ). I'm not sure whether it will get to #1, but i'm not really sure. End of the day, does it really matter anymore? #1 singles are so irrelevant these days. It will sell absolutely masses of albums however.
October 13, 200816 yr OK, my analysis...I wanted actually to come here and to say how much i hate it. Till i hear it in better quality and not so quiet as at the work. Well, with laudspeaker on full power is a lot better. It will be not my favorite. I am really puzzled why they choose this song as a single. For a gig opener - great. For a single, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm  . What I like: - something new for them - from 2:12 it really grows on me a lot and i quite like it. - i am sure that with more listen will grow on me What I don't like: - are they really 4 in TT? Well, you could not tell...The songs of Mark as solo have more background vocals as this song  - build too slow, the first 2 minutes should be only one - it seems to be middle of the road between Coldplay and Daniel Powter - the orchestration lack on imagination - the lyrics are average - Gary seems to have no air when he goes so high So , perhaps will go no 1 in UK, bot I don't think anywhere else will go in Top 10. Which is quite bad for the album. It will be better if they rework the orchestration and put some spice in it. I will buy it only if the B-side will be a good song like We all fall down. And about the album.... ...if this should be the lead song how are the other songs on it? This song need a very very good video, who should support the building at the 2:10 mark. Should be nothing like the weird one with water  .
October 13, 200816 yr Author I must say I'm quite impressed with the number of non-Take That fans (or rather fanatics!) who are coming to the defence of the song. It has grown on me a lot since I first heard it. Iris - I think you're too generous in your description of the lyrics - because I think they are this song's fatal flaw - they really aren't very good at all! Norma
October 13, 200816 yr I have the feeling this song is targeted at the male audience  . But you are right about the lyrics. I say "average" because nowadays the lyrics seems not to be very important anymore . So on the field they are only average , but for me lyrics are very important in apreciation of a song(that is why, while I like The Last Shadow Puppets a lot, I don't put them in the very best liga of mine).

To me ... the lyrics will always take a back seat to a good tune! Bloody good job in this case! Norma
October 13, 200816 yr My jury is still out on the song. On first listen, I wasnt overtly impressed to be honest. It sounded a bit bland and a cross between "rule the world" and "patience" but not as good. The song just didnt stand out enough for me on first listen but maybe its a grower. I really liked "rule the world" on first listen but "patience" took a couple more listens. I have a feeling the new material wont do as well as 'beautiful world'.
October 13, 200816 yr So here is more about the video : http://www.lastbroadcast.co.uk/music/v/663...rcus-album.html . "The video for 'Greatest Day' was filmed on location in Los Angeles on top of a 60 storey building in the downtown area. It was directed by Meiert Avis (who’s previously shot videos for U2, Damian Rice, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan)." All i can say is : WOW! What a liga to be in . Hope the video will be great!
October 13, 200816 yr I like it. This song has number one written all over it. Perfect upbeat song for radio. Yes safe and not too adventurous, nothing new, but ideal to launch the new album. But here's to Take That's 11th number one and 13th in Gary Barlow's career!
October 14, 200816 yr Author A bit from the Sun about the video (with pics). http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showb...icle1804379.ece Norma
October 14, 200816 yr I start to warm a little bit towards this song. I know why they gave it for the air play 6 weeks before releasing: perhaps we will really like it in 6 weeks!!! :w00t:  The annoying thing is that if only one thing which is in the list from "I don't like" would have been in the staple of "I like", I would have adore this song. It 's like a good soup without a little bit of salt. GRRRRRRRRRRRR!
October 14, 200816 yr it will be huge its def a grower and the sun were full of praise for it today also
October 14, 200816 yr Author I havent heard it yet :( Here's a little youtube of it to be going on with. DQ78MOcAE0c I actually really like this now (well the music anyway). I still think it is let down by the lyrics (or scarcety of them!) Norma
