October 13, 200816 yr (Take That of course different because they came back with decent enough material and had a better name in the first place) So Take That are successful because they've got a better name? (It's like someone on Wikipedia saying that Anthony Kiedis couldn't possibly be bi because he's cute - see http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=...exual_musicians) Edited October 13, 200816 yr by DitzyNizzy
October 13, 200816 yr Care to share how bad they were rhythm bandit? ;) This song is awful. This will flop miserably, though I still have the horrid memory of Brian Harvey's Eurovision pre-selection performance in my head!
November 7, 200816 yr They were bloody pathetic when they were at their supposed "peak".... What is WITH all these lame-ass Boy-bands making comebacks anyway....? I mean, the most amusing has to be New KIDS on the Block... Er, aren't they all about 40 now....????   I thought East 17 were great at their peak, way past it now but Mortimer's song writing and Harvey;s vocals went well together and make good tunes, New Kids is just a name, it doesn't have to mean what it means. And they were always a tasteless man's Take That: they only had one decent song - Stay Another Day. Other than that? :puke: What about BOYzone? Actually East 17 had other good songs, Deep, Thunder, It's Alright, Let It Rain, House of Love, If You Ever. There's a reason why East 17 were more popular outside UK than Take That, their music had a different edge and was more suited to a worldwide audience. LOL Manzone  Well Take That have at least a decent name but New Kids On The Block... or Old Men On The Block? So their name is New Kids on the Block? Big deal. It's just a name. I actually think it's a great band name, especially back in the day. I was amused more by the fact that NKOTB kept the original name despite being rather elderly... Take That aint a very "age specific" name, neither is "East 17" (which is part of a London post-code..), so there's not quite the level of ridiculousness as their is with NKOTB.... If Jordan, Donnie, etc wanted to make music again, why not just choose a different name..? It aint the original line-up anyway is it...? I believe Mark Wahlberg gave the idea a wide berth didn't he, seeing as how his acting career is doing pretty well....? Of course, you do have the Beastie Boys as well innit...?  But people just usually contract that into "The Beasties".... It is the original line-u, the same 5 guys that made it in the 90s are the same 5 guys now, why change the name then? Anyway, whatever East 17 had is long gone, they shouldn't make music again.
November 7, 200816 yr So their name is New Kids on the Block? Big deal. It's just a name. I actually think it's a great band name, especially back in the day. It was a joke. -_- They are not kids anymore so their name is a bit odd
November 10, 200816 yr It is the original line-u, the same 5 guys that made it in the 90s are the same 5 guys now, why change the name then? Anyway, whatever East 17 had is long gone, they shouldn't make music again. Because there is an inherent ridiculousness in making a comeback in your FORTIES and keeping the same name with the word "Kids" in the title.... These guys aint teenagers anymore, it's embarrassing.... The new album was called The Block, I believe...? Why not just change the name to that....? Their song "Hang Tough" just amused the hell out of me, I mean, sorry, but what a bunch of SISSYS.....  If the likes of Ice-T or Ice Cube just growled at them back then, they'd've probably shat a load.....   Agree with the second part, but I dont really believe that they had anything much to begin with....
