Posted October 9, 200816 yr I think we could be looking at HUGE sales for this album over the weekend - Tesco have just sent out an e-mail to its database informing them that the new Oasis album is now available to download now for just £3.97  Surely one of the lowest prices ever for a new album in the first week!
October 9, 200816 yr Yeah only £6.97 in Tesco store too. Pity I didn't know and paid £8.97 in Asda!! Edited October 9, 200816 yr by Crazy Chris
October 9, 200816 yr And then in the future when we say how many copies it sold by the Sunday we'll be all awe-inspired, totally forgetting that they really only sold half that amount at a normal price. The record company and artist will make about tuppence from this limited edition Tesco deal, it's all marketing and publicity!
October 9, 200816 yr Anyone got Oasis's first, second and third week sales for the last few albums? Would be interested in seeing the % drop-offs from week to week.
October 9, 200816 yr What Are Oasis's 1st Week UK Album Sales? http://www.ukmix.org/forums/viewtopic.php?...highlight=oasis will that do :D

Maybe it was a different band, but this is Oasis we're talking about... they can play the biggest venues up and across the world and charge whatever they like and it'll still be a sell-out. Is all about marketing like you say, and getting as many people as possible to hear the album so they can pay for their tour tickets.
October 9, 200816 yr I thought an album had to be £5 to count in the chart? Or is that just for physicals?

October 9, 200816 yr by the way that album offer is the 10 track version ;).... one track is not on there (get off your) high horse lady. though you could downlad that and your looking at what still quite cheap ;)
October 9, 200816 yr I thought an album had to be £5 to count in the chart? Or is that just for physicals? yeah think you're right, though i think that's the dealer price (to do with the price Tesco have to pay for it from record company), and probably does only apply to physicals. Sure Tesco are selling it at a loss to get people in store/online- just like they do with alcohol!

Or OTOH, it is so bad that they have to drop the price that low for people to touch it? :w00t:
