OK, I know I bang on about Moyet...and I freely admit she's made as many dodgy records as great ones... but it's worth mentioning she's currently on her first solo tour of the US in almost 15 years, fresh from the Yazoo Reconnected shows (which were nothing short of phenomenal).

Anyway, here's a clip of her from NYC the other night..and isn't it refreshing, in these days of bland, anodyne, one-dimensional pop 'stars' that there's still real talent out there, whatever age - gritty, earthy, warm, funny and with a genuine connection with her audience? Here's a beautifully reworked version of one of her better known solo hits... the songs she hates, in reality, and rarely sings live. Check the c**k-up at the start and the humorous ticking off she gives the audience...

50 views, zero repies? Surely a record?

Anyway - Moyet's recorded a Dusty cover...

Alison Moyet has recorded a classic track of legendary British singer, Dusty Springfield

Alison Moyet has covered the classic song I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself for a forthcoming Dusty Springfield Tribute album. Other artists involved inclde Shirley Manson. The Bacharach and David track was a #3 hit in the UK for Dusty in 1964.

Alison Moyet's recorded her version with Martin Terefe, who has previously has produced for a-Ha, James Morrison and KT Tunstall. The track has been been described by Alison as having both 'force and fragile edges'.

Alison worked with Dusty Springfield just once when she was asked, alongwith Sinead O'Connor, to provide backing vocals on Dusty's 1996 appearance on Later...with Jools Holland, which was to be Springfield's last ever TV performance.

Well you are either stupid or one of a hell of a great singer to attempt to cover a Dusty Springfield song as Dusty is rightly regarded by musos as Britain's Greatest ever female singer.

Fortunately as Alison is easily inside the Top10 British female singers of all time she will pull this cover off without sounding inferior.

Anyway here is the said ^ last ever Dusty Springfield TV appearance:
