Possibly more than anyone on Earth, Britney Spears' life is constantly documented by the media, which voraciously reports on the singer's every step and misstep. But what's it like to be in her shoes?

With her new album, Circus, set for release in just a few weeks, the singer is ready to show the world her side of the story.

Britney has joined forces with MTV for a 90-minute documentary about her return to the pop-music spotlight. Tentatively titled "For the Record," the special is set to air on November 30 at 10 p.m. on MTV, two days before Circus is released on December 2 (the singer's 27th birthday).

"So much has gone on over the last couple of years and there's a lot that people don't know about me that I want them to know," Spears told MTV News in a statement about the special. "I wanted to make this film because I started to feel like I wasn't being seen in the light that I wanted to be seen in. This is an opportunity to set the record straight and talk about what I've been through and where I'm headed."

The documentary combines personal stories with behind-the-scenes footage of her comeback. Cameras follow her to the recording studio, to rehearsals, to press tours, to the video shoot for her latest single, "Womanizer," and even to her hometown in Louisiana. Backstage footage from her recent triumphant appearance at the Video Music Awards is also featured.

Through it all, we hear Britney talking about the hardships that led up to this comeback. "I've been through a lot, and there's a lot people don't know," she says in the film. "Sometimes it can get lonely 'cause you don't open the gate. I'm stuck in this place, and I just cope every day."

Britney also owns up to the mistakes the world has watched her make, and offers some telling insight into how she feels about it all now. "I sit there and I look back," she says, before asking rhetorically: "I'm a smart person, what the hell was I thinking?"

"For the Record" airs Sunday, November 30 at 10 p.m. ET on MTV.

YOUTUBE:

OMG I really hope she does comment on everything thats gone on, should be so interesting.

I think this in an incredibly brave thing to do.

I also think it's helpful to Britney as a person, and her 'recovery'. Firstly, because her music tends not to really deal with isues such as she's been through - so it doesn't get out there. And, secondly, because I think the past 2-3 years have been such a vital part of shaping who she is, and who she is becoming that you can't just ignore it.

I think she's already recovered!

can't wait for the documentary

AHH can't wait for this to air! BRIT IS AWESOME! :D It's great that she's doing this to clear everything up!

Just saw this featured on Inside Edition as well!

"I sit there and I look back, I'm a smart person. WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING!?"

Best quote ever!

I still think that its gonna be a long road to recovery, people are quick to say she's back, but you dont switch from day to night. Obviously this will be a long process, and you can tell in some recent pics that she's still got those dead eyes, so its gonna take a long while til she feels beautiful INSIDE and out.
I think the true test to see if Britney has truly recovered or is still on the path to recovery is to see what happens when the conservatorship ends! Then she'll be on her own again and making more decisions for her self!

I think only people close to Britney can attest to if she has fully recovered.

ANYWAYS... 45 days left until this and 47 days until 'Circus' :D

Documentary Britney: For The Record will be shown exclusively in the UK on Sky1.

Filmed by Phil Griffin, the show will feature Spears speaking openly about her troubles during the last three years. Cameras follow the singer in the recording studio, shooting her latest video and at this year's MTV Video Music Awards.

Speaking about the film, the popstar said: "I wanted to make [it]because I started to feel like I wasn't being seen in the light that I wanted to be seen in. This is an opportunity to set the record straight and talk about what I've been through and where I'm headed."

Sky1 senior acquisitions executive Louisa Forsyth said: "Britney Spears is an international icon and the whole world has been fascinated by her story.

"Britney has long been the centre of media speculation, but now she will reveal the truth behind those rumours; her own story in her own words."

Britney: For The Record will air on Sky1 in December, 24 hours after it is shown in the US.

Awesomeness! I'm sure her team sold it to Sky because they offered more money for it!
