Enya could be set to perform in concert for the first time ever as she prepares to release her seventh studio album And Winter Came.

The Donegal born singer, who has sold over 70 million records worldwide, revealed that she is in discussion over performing a number of one-off shows.

"I know it's been 20 years,” Enya told a packed press conference yesterday, “but we're always talking about how exciting it would be to do a live performance of this music. But it has to be the right moment."

Enya's longstanding producer Nicky Ryan confirmed that a live show is in the pipeline – though it is by no means certain that it will go ahead.

"There are serious talks going on at the moment," he told Hot Press. "I think it would be a good idea. At this stage we either do it or we don't. We were talking to America on Wednesday about the possibility of doing a performance. Our preference would be to do it in Europe. It wouldn't be a tour, just a performance, and we would film it."

And Winter Came was originally destined to be a Christmas album, but now features 10 original tracks from Enya and two traditional hymns.

As revealed on hotpress.com one of the songs is a tribute to the late Irish guitarist Jimmy Faulkner. The song involves a slight departure for Enya featuring guitar solos as well as references to The Beatles, Elvis and B.B King.

Dubliner Pat Farrell is the featured guitarist on the track, which insiders are forecasting will be the third single, with a likely release date in the new year.

Very interesting.....

Now when they think to show the samples?this album is giving me curiosity, more than the previews one.

This live concert discussion comes round every time a new album is released. I just don't believe it will ever happen. I've always thought a live concert might not live up to high expectations and be a disappointment.

If there's only one concert I feel certain that it will be an invited audience only so I've no chance of getting a ticket!

I agree with you Ben,if Enya has some problem doing a live tour or even a concert we can handle with it because not every artist have a obligation to do live music (I cant handle being on a stage),now we can't handle with false expectations every new album releases, since a day without rain that I hear that.
I just read about this, but yeah I don't think it'll happen either tbh. It'd be nice if it were to happen though, and if it was recorded and released on DVD it'd be a great bonus. ^_^

They have said that a lot, yes. If it did happen, the tickets would be so high priced that I would never be able to go even if I could..and it being in Europe means no possibility of going. I would just hope for the show to be online for viewing somewhere, even better, a physical release of the show (provided this occurs) I'm skeptical myself.

A dvd live concert is an excellent idea to serve all the fans, its like an album release.

If I'm near of the concert or being lucky to be at the place I have to go even if I have to stole money :naughty: :kink:

IF......theres really a concert live of course -_-

Singer Enya eyes concert stage as "Winter" arrives

By Mark Sutherland

LONDON (Billboard) - With her new album off to a strong start, ethereal-voiced Irish singer Enya is considering touring for the first time in her career.

"And Winter Came," released November 11 on Reprise in the United States and a day earlier on Warner Bros. in the United Kingdom, debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 with sales of 92,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Enya's manager/producer Nicky Ryan says the original plan was to use the six songs she recorded for a Christmas EP in 2006 alongside new recordings for a covers-based project. But things changed in the studio, and the finished product has only two traditional songs, "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" and "Oiche Chiuin (Silent Night)." Enya's early-career version of the latter song has proved perennially popular.

"I'm a big fan of Christmas music," Enya says. "I wanted to take what I love about traditional carols and bring it into the 21st century."

Enya's last album, "Amarantine," came out in 2005. Big gaps between albums don't seem to affect the singer's enduring popularity, however. Neither does the fact that she has never toured. Nielsen SoundScan has logged 25.2 million total sales for Enya since it began tracking sales in 1991.

Ryan, who with his lyricist wife, Roma Ryan, has guided Enya's career since recruiting her to the band Clannad in 1980, credits her enduring popularity to that low profile. "She's not always in your face. We're not always trying to sell you something," he says.

"To me, success and fame are two very different things," Enya adds, although she and Ryan both say she may tour for the first time next year.

"We're definitely talking about it," she says. "I'll be promoting until February, and that's when we'll sit down and think, 'What's next?'"

But even if she does take that leap to the concert stage, not much else about her approach to music will change. "For some artists, after 10 years of success, they finally get to make the album they've always wanted to do," Enya says. "But I was able to say that about my first album. I'm very aware that I break all the rules."

Interesting stuff, but I'm still not too sure that she actually will tour. Would be really nice if she did though, and it'd be great if a DVD of one of the concerts was released afterwards. ^_^

humm why I have a feeling that is getting serious??

Since Enya is a big fan of christmas songs she will make to tour with those kind of songs.

It'd be nice to go and actually see her, but I doubt I'll be able to go if she does do any live shows tbh. Depends where they are though I suppose.
